Plastic corner

To disguise the gap between the side and the wall, you can use a PVC corner. This is a budget method that requires accuracy. One part must be glued to the wall, and the other pressed against the cabinet. You can use the second plastic corner as a spacer.

The size of the corner should be selected based on the width of the gap. For fixing, it is better to use liquid nails, which, unlike self-tapping screws, do not leave holes and do not spoil the look with their heads. After gluing, it is recommended to secure the corner with masking tape to securely fix the resulting structure.

Mounting

Another way to improve the joint is to use a door casing. You can choose a wooden strip to match the size of the gap and paint it in a shade close to the cabinet or wall. If necessary, the wood can be easily trimmed to fit the curves of the wall.

PVC trims, which are equipped with cable channels that allow you to hide external wiring, are also sold in construction stores. They are not afraid of moisture and are easy to install. In addition to the decorative function, they help hide unsightly wires.

Cutout from chipboard in color

If a frame cabinet is installed close to one of the curved walls in the room or in a niche, it will not be possible to align the structure with supports: the doors, shelves and drawers will be skewed. In this case, the cabinet must be installed using laminated chipboard slats.

The resulting gap is masked using strips of the same material in the color of the cabinet. It is also called a false panel. The strip is adjusted to the curves of the wall using a jigsaw. The edges are sanded or covered with a soft edge, securing it with a hot iron.

Wallpaper

If you glue wallpaper over the planks, the distortions will not be noticeable at a quick glance. The support strip made of laminated chipboard must be installed strictly vertically according to the level and secured in those places that fit tightly to the wall. The gaps should be filled with polyurethane foam, and the wallpaper should be sealed with masking tape to protect it.

After the foam has dried, it should be cut off. Then you need to cut strips of wallpaper and glue them over the “pie” of chipboard and foam.

Pilaster or molding

If you want to add decorativeness to the cabinet, you can buy special wooden slats with carved ornaments or pilasters for furniture or walls in a hardware store or workshop. With their help, it is easy to close an unsightly gap, thanks to which the cabinet will look solid.

This method is suitable for relatively flat walls. Elements with ornaments look best in a classic style, but if desired, they can also be integrated into a modern interior.

Moldings

According to GOST, a technological gap between the wall and the furniture is necessary: as a rule, it is no more than 5 mm. Sometimes the gap looks harmonious and is not conspicuous, but sometimes it spoils the entire impression of the decor. In this case, you should choose the most suitable method for you and disguise the gap.
