10 m2 bedroom layouts

The layout of a 10 m2 bedroom is chosen based on the initial parameters: square or rectangular room, where the door is located, whether there is a balcony. Also decide in advance what you will use the room for besides sleeping: storing things, working and creating, makeup and styling.

If your small space is rectangular, it will be easier for you to arrange furniture and define zones. The bed is placed along the long wall, leaving passages on the sides. To save space, push the bed into the corner, you can approach it only from one side, but the bedroom will fit a work or makeup table. When the door and window are on short walls opposite each other, you can install the headboard to the window. Then there will be space for a wardrobe near the door.

Tip: A fold-out sofa is preferable if the bedroom is actively used during the day.

Zoning a square room of 10 sq. m is more difficult, and it is not always necessary. Combine the relaxation and storage areas by placing wardrobes at the head of the bed and hanging shelves between them. Equip a dressing table or desk on the windowsill.

• Horizontal stripes. The easiest way to create them is wallpaper or paint. Moldings, long shelves, and various accessories are also used.
• Panoramic images. 3D photo wallpapers are great at erasing boundaries. For a small room, choose a pattern that is as close as possible in size to the real one: large enlarged elements are only suitable for large spaces.
• Diagonals. Parquet or laminate does not necessarily have to lie lengthwise or crosswise. Laying at an angle will visually expand the bedroom.
• Small details. Large elements require a lot of space to view them from afar. A small print on the wallpaper or small decorative items, on the contrary, look more harmonious in a small room.

Furniture arrangement

The most logical place to start arranging furniture in a 10 sq. m. bedroom is with the bed. First, decide on its size. A spacious 2*2 meter bed can be installed on 10 square meters if you are only going to sleep here. To furnish this area with a wardrobe and a work or dressing table, choose narrower models: 140-160 cm wide.

Installation options:

• Headboard to the wall with passages on both sides. Convenient to use, each has bedside tables, but takes up a lot of space.
• Headboard and one side to the wall. Saves at least 70 cm, but access is only from one side and only one bedside table.
• Headboard to the window with passages. The sitting area is highlighted, it is convenient to approach, but it is impossible to use the windowsill for a table.
• With the headboard facing the window, the side facing the wall. It saves space, you can put a table or a wardrobe on the other side, but it is inconvenient to approach.

Once the sleeping area is determined, move on to the rest of the furniture.

Not every interior should have bedside tables. If you want to do without them, replace the bedside tables with shelves above the bed – this option is especially convenient in a layout with an approach from one side. Or put high shelves on each side – this will increase the storage area.

A sliding wardrobe is an excellent candidate for a place in a room of 10 sq. The most convenient option for its placement is along the short side to the right or left of the door. If there is a niche in the room, simply build the wardrobe into it. To avoid the structure looking bulky, choose the same light shade for the closet and behind it.

Tip: If you don’t want to install a large closet, but need storage space, install a bed with drawers.

A desk enlivens the bedroom during the daytime. It is installed on the windowsill or in another convenient place.

A dressing table gives the bedroom a special charm and will appeal to many women. Prefer a light console with a hanging mirror to a large model with bedside tables, drawers and shelves – it looks stylish and compact.

Hang the TV opposite the bed so that the stand does not steal valuable square meters. Exception: a headboard by the window in a narrow long bedroom. Then the TV is attached to the ceiling or a partition is built for it from slats (it also zones the room).

How to furnish a room?

When choosing decor for a 10 sq m bedroom, follow the rule: bright accents for a light room, discreet decorations for a bright room. If the color scheme of your room is white, gray or beige, let your imagination run wild when buying a bedspread, curtains and other accessories.

The interior of a 10 sq m bedroom should first of all be cozy. Textiles are responsible for this in the decor.

• Pillows set the tone, but a large number of them can create problems. Firstly, before going to bed, you will not know where to put them. Secondly, tucking it in will take too much time. 2-4 decorative pillows are enough.
• A beautiful bedspread or blanket will protect the bed from dust and decorate the bedroom. The width of the correct bedspread should be 50-70 cm larger than the mattress. The gloss rule does not apply to fabric, it should be without shine.
• Volumetric multi-level curtains with lambrequins and fringe will overload a small room of 10 sq. m. Opt for lightweight tulle or plain elegant blackouts to block out the light. If there is a table on the windowsill, fabric curtains are replaced with roller or Roman blinds.

Another important aspect in the design of a small bedroom is lighting. It is worth thinking about it before starting the renovation, taking into account all the options for spending time. A central ceiling chandelier or spotlights built-in for cleaning or getting ready for bed. Bedside table lamps, floor lamps or sconces – for reading and night activity. Spotlights directed at the closet will make it easier to find the right thing. A table lamp on the desk is an indispensable lighting for evening activities.

Pictures in the bedroom interior support the atmosphere and style. Hang them above the bed or put them on a shelf above it, or place them opposite.
