House in the forest with panoramic windows

A small panel house with an area of only 33 square meters was built with their own hands: the customers asked the architects to create a structure that even non-professionals could assemble. The building is located in the USA and stands on a slope in the middle of a forest. In addition to concrete piles, the trunks of nearby pine trees are used as additional supports.

The most expensive elements of the budget building were three panoramic Windows with a rotating mechanism and energy-saving glass. One of them serves as an entrance door. The house is finished with clapboard: it is painted on the inside and protected with pine tar on the outside. The cottage is used even in winter: the owners heat it with a stove or connect a generator.

House by the Lake

Another compact residential building in the forest, the owner of which values solitude and the beauty of nature. The former fisherman’s house stands on the shore of the lake, which can be observed at any time of year – one wall of the house is completely glass. The total area is 43 sq. m.

The outside of the house is faced with wooden slats – this way the building better harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. Larch wood was used in the construction, which is almost not subject to decay and therefore lasts longer.

The interior of the house is laconic: inside there is a bed, a sofa, a small kitchen and a shower. A metal staircase leads to the second tier, where another sleeping area is arranged. The decor is reminiscent of a yacht cabin – this is a tribute to the owner’s hobby. The walls of the living room and bedroom are paneled with wood, and the wet areas are covered with decorative concrete.

The house is heated by a fireplace. When the owner is away, the panoramic windows are closed with wooden shutters.

Country cottage in the forest

This house fits perfectly into the surrounding forest space: thanks to the glass panels that are used instead of walls, the trees seem to grow into the interior. Natural tones prevail inside, so the cottage is in complete harmony with the surrounding landscape – mountains and pine forest.

High ceilings with beams, well-chosen furniture and textiles, panoramic walls make the building visually spacious. The decoration uses natural materials: stone, glass and wood. Each room has an exit to the fresh air – through glass doors or to the balcony.

Triangular house

A small A-shaped house in the middle of the forest in North Carolina seems to be created for cozy evenings and romantic gatherings. The two-story triangular cottage was built in 1968, when such buildings were gaining popularity, and restored in 2019.

The black facade is decorated with a spacious terrace, on which the owners place plants, decor and garden furniture. The small size of the house was compensated by glass doors, a large window and a minimum of furniture – this way more sunlight enters and it seems more spacious.

On the ground floor there is a kitchen, separated from the living room by a stove, and a spiral staircase leading to the mezzanine with a guest bedroom. The building also has an additional extension, which houses a bedroom and a bathroom.

Glass house

This cottage belongs to an architect who developed his project over the course of 7 years. Construction was slowed down by a lengthy search for recyclable materials – for example, previously used bricks.

Since the building is located in a forest on the bank of a river, three of the four walls are made entirely of glass. The bathroom and bedroom are hidden from view, but the kitchen-living room offers stunning views of the water and forest.

The house is heated by the sun and a fireplace that heats the floor, as well as a special way of laying the roof.

Chalet-style house

The house, built in the forest on the bank of a wide river, amazes with its spectacular appearance. The decoration is dominated by untreated wood – beams, stumps with branches and irregularities, boards. The fireplace is built right into the stone wall, due to which the heat is retained for a long time.

The chalet-style interior is supported by leather furniture, homespun carpets, lamps made of roughly processed metal. Despite the abundance of “brutal” elements, the decor looks homely.

Antique finishes, vintage furniture and retro decor do not make the interior outdated. It seems to have frozen in time and resembles a fairy-tale hut, inside which it is light and cozy.

Modern house in high-tech style

This estate, remote from civilization, is located near Moscow among thickets of birch trees. The facade of the house, covered with wood, echoes the surrounding forest. In turn, the landscape blends organically into the interior thanks to panoramic windows that let in maximum daylight.

The interior of the house is furnished in the latest fashion. A modern fireplace, TV, kitchen appliances — everything is equipped to live in a country house in comfort all year round. The high-tech furniture looks sophisticated, and thanks to the well-thought-out storage system, the space is not overloaded with things.

Despite the abundance of glass and plastic, which make the decor more modern, the interior looks cozy: wood, upholstered furniture and textiles play an important role in the decoration.

A cozy house with a pool

This family home called Hudson Woods is located in a forest in the USA. The location for the construction was not chosen by chance: it is surrounded by centuries-old trees, which help the architects realize their main idea – to develop the natural beauty of the native nature, responsibly approaching the use of the land.

At first glance, the cottage seems simple and unpretentious, but the luxurious pool, huge windows and laconic interior with white trim oak give the building a noble appearance. For lovers of outdoor recreation, there is a wood-burning stove for cooking outside, an open terrace and even a tree house.
