Types of beds in the hall

Modern designers offer both standard and rather unusual beds for the living room.

Podium bed

A podium-shaped design is perfect for saving space in a small room. It combines a mattress and a frame with drawers that act as a closet: bedding or clothes are stored inside.

Sofa bed

This solution is chosen by owners of small apartments, for example, Khrushchev-era apartments. The advantage of a sofa bed is that it easily folds up and turns into a full-fledged place for receiving guests: all that remains is to choose a convenient coffee table that can be easily moved around the room.

Transformer bed

This is the case when you don’t have to choose between functionality and fashionable design. The lifting mechanism will allow you to easily hide the bed in the built-in niche and save up to 80% of space. If the interior is designed in a minimalist style, then furniture hidden during the day is a good solution.

Bunk

Ergonomic bunk furniture is usually purchased by families with children, but its use in the living room is also justified. Due to the second “floor” the number of sleeping places increases twofold or even threefold.

Children’s bed

The layout of the living room, combined with the children’s room, has a number of features:

  • You can’t put the crib near the entrance – sounds will penetrate through the door and interfere with sleep;
  • it is better to make a recreation area a walk-through area, rather than a children’s corner – it is preferable to place it by the window;
  • the bed should be separated by a canopy or partition so that the child has personal space, especially if we are talking about a teenager.

Loft bed

If the ceiling height in the apartment allows, an extraordinary solution for combining the living room and bedroom will be a loft bed. This arrangement will please creative people, giving them new sensations, and will free up precious meters under the sleeping area.

Armchair bed

The multifunctional armchair turns into a single bed in one movement, and when folded does not steal extra space. Some models have a storage box.

  • Round.
  • Large double bed.
  • Mini bed.
  • Semi-circular.

How to place a bed in the living room?

Glass or plasterboard partitions will help to divide the room into zones. There are also simpler options – in a small living room, you can fence off the space with a rack or cabinet, or hide the furniture for sleeping behind a screen. If you use a bed in the living room instead of a sofa, it will not differ much from a regular bedroom: in this case, additional armchairs or chairs are needed for visitors.

You can visually zone a room using different wall finishes. Combined options look interesting when cabinet furniture (or a partition) is placed in the center of the living room and a curtain is additionally hung.

Living Room Design Ideas

The living room can be called the main room in the house. Family members spend a lot of time here, so its design should be thought out especially carefully. The original ideas presented below can be used by studio owners so that they don’t have to “sleep in the kitchen”.

Interior with a bed and a sofa

If the living room area exceeds 20-25 sq.m., then it won’t be difficult to fit both a bed and a sofa.

In the photo, the corner sofa is separated from the sleeping area by a white shelving unit with open shelves. Zoning is also achieved by using a wall of contrasting blue color.

Living room with a niche

The bed in the niche looks especially cozy. Together with textiles, the niche turns into a secret room fenced off from prying eyes.

With two beds

Even a family of four can be accommodated in the living room if it is equipped with a fold-out sofa and two beds located one above the other.

Designer solutions for beds in different styles

The bed is the central attribute around which the space is formed, and the style is formed. Supporters of minimalism will appreciate a sleeping area hidden behind airy sliding doors. Loft lovers will appreciate a podium bed and zoning with plain curtains: light fabric will dilute the brutality of the finish. For a modern classic, a wide double bed is best suited.
