What are the sizes?

There are two measurement systems:

• English (measured in pounds and inches). Used in the USA, Great Britain and a number of other countries.
• Metric (cm and meters). Common among European and domestic manufacturers.

Bed sizes may differ slightly depending on the country of manufacture. Therefore, when choosing a bed, first of all, consider which furniture factory it was made in, for example, Russian or foreign.

It is important to remember that standard sizes mean the width and length of the mattress laid on the base, not the bed.

Double

The standard width of a double bed has the widest range – from 110 to 180 cm, and the length – 180-205 cm. This model is perfect for a married couple and at the same time will fit into almost any bedroom. Each family member will have enough free space for a comfortable sleep.

In America and Great Britain, the sizes of double beds are distinguished by a more fractional classification, which includes: standard double, royal and super royal.

The dimensions of one and a half beds allow you to comfortably accommodate one person who prefers a lot of free space while sleeping. The width of a single bed ranges from 120 to 160 cm, while using a 160 cm model, even two people can easily fit on it.

The maximum dimensions of single beds correspond to the minimum dimensions of double beds, which makes the difference between them almost imperceptible.

Single

The standard length of a single bed is in no way inferior to larger pieces of furniture, and due to its small width and elongated shape, it easily fits into any room.

The sizes of a single bed, which are also called single or twin, are ideal for accommodating an adult with an average build or a child.

King size

A king-size or queen-size bed has truly royal dimensions, which provide free accommodation for two or, if necessary, even three people.

These triple beds have a truly enormous width, exceeding 200 cm and are more appropriate for decorating spacious bedrooms or for a family with a baby.

Non-standard sizes

Unusual oval or round beds often have large dimensions. In this case, you can choose any sleeping position, even across.

Such products can have a diameter of 220 to 240 cm and are more suitable for large rooms. Most often, round and oval options are made to order, either for non-standard human parameters, or to create an individual and luxurious interior.

• To make a competent choice, you should measure the area of the room, study the size grid, assortment, features of bedding and mattress.
• Also take into account the body type, habits, weight, height, length of the arms and legs of a person, for example, it is necessary that the legs and elbows do not hang down, do not rest against the back, headboard or footboard.
• The optimal size for two should be at least 140 cm, and the distance between the sleepers is about 20 centimeters.
• For teenagers, a one-and-a-half or single bed is perfect, and for schoolchildren or preschoolers, you can choose products 60 cm wide and 120-180 cm long.
• According to Feng Shui, it is better to give preference to large, but not too bulky structures. For two people, you should choose only a double bed, so as not to create a psychological and emotional imbalance in the couple, and vice versa, if a person sleeps alone, then a single model will be quite enough for him.
• When choosing a comfortable length, you should add thirty or forty centimeters to the person’s height, this is especially important for those who often sleep on their back.
• The most convenient option in terms of dimensions is a double design, which also replaces two separate sleeping places and thereby frees up space.
• In a narrow or small bedroom, it is advisable to install a model taking into account the ergonomics of the space. The length and width of the bed should be such that the passages are at least 60 cm.
