Choosing finishing materials
Tiles
Black ceramic tiles look expensive and ultra-fashionable, especially if they are matte or made to look like marble. To prevent black tiles from “eating up” the space, it is recommended to use dark shades as color accents:
- the floor should be black,
- and the walls should be white or other pastel shades.
This way, the room will not visually become any smaller.
Marble tiles were used as the flooring material in the photo.
Porcelain tiles in the interior
Porcelain tiles on the floor look expensive and modern, the black color adds depth to the space, creating a calm, beautiful interior.
Wood (laminate and parquet)
A black wooden floor always looks more expensive and impressive than light wood of the same quality. Dark laminate and parquet bring a sense of strength and reliability to the room.
Natural materials will improve the appearance, create style and perfection to the interior, especially black oak flooring.

Self-leveling floor
This finishing, smooth coating, characterized by the absence of joints and irregularities. Ideal for places with high traffic, such a floor lasts a long time and does not require special care.
Carpet
Black carpet will be appropriate in any room of the house. It will fill the interior with coziness and warmth.

Glossy or matte floor?
Glossy floor in the interior looks fresh and unusual, it visually increases the height of the ceilings in the room, thus, dark shades will not “eat up” the space.
Matte flooring looks expensive and unusual. It fills the room with calm and “fullness”, creating a soft, but very interesting accent.
What color of walls to choose?
It is best to choose neutral shades for wall decoration with a black contrasting floor. It goes well not only with bright colors, but also with light, basic colors. All shades of gray, beige and white will further emphasize the texture and contrast of the floor.
This combination also visually “expands” the walls, making the room harmonious, cozy and original.

Combination with ceiling color
The black floor looks universal and can be easily combined with other colors. To prevent dark colors from “eating up” the space, it is advisable to make only one dark accent, and leave the furniture, walls and ceiling in light, soft shades.
The dark floor is combined with the dark ceiling and light walls. Thus, the space expands, and the height of the room is slightly reduced. This technique is necessary if you need to visually “push apart” the walls and slightly reduce the height of the room.
Photos in the interior of rooms
Bathroom and toilet
The use of dark shades in the bathroom will favorably emphasize the room, making it more aristocratic and richer.

A black and white bathroom looks very modern and stylish. A color scheme in the bathroom will help create a unique chic: a black and white floor, white plumbing in combination with light-colored walls, black furniture and gold decor.
Kitchen
A classic kitchen design: black and white design. The most practical solution for flooring: ceramic tiles or porcelain tiles.
When choosing a kitchen set, it is worth giving preference to light shades, especially wooden facades. It is worth considering the texture of the tile if the floor is planned to be matte, in this case, the matte furniture will look “one” with the floor.
Living room
The black color of the floor will add special luxury to the living room, it will perfectly fit both into the classic style and into the modern one (minimalism, hi-tech).

Bedroom
Due to the dark floor, the bedroom may seem too “heavy”, to avoid this, it is worth diluting the room with light shades. These can be decorative items, the color of the walls and ceiling, as well as furniture. It is not necessary to use only light furniture, it can be combined: in such a room a light bed with a dark chest of drawers and bedside table will look harmonious.
Hallway and entrance hall
Hallways and entrance halls lack natural light, so as not to weigh down the room, it is recommended to limit yourself to only a dark floor and framing of mirrors or details (switches, door handles, pouf, paintings).
Combination with other colors
Black and white floor
Black and white floor clearly proves its individuality and audacity. It looks organically in the high-tech and minimalist styles: they are characterized by clear lines and bright details. Black and white floor can be made not only of tiles or porcelain stoneware, but also finished with laminate or engineered board.
Black and red floor
Red, just like black, can “steal” space, thereby reducing the area of the room. The black and red floor is very active and contrasting, the red color needs to be balanced with bright accents: a red chandelier, a painting, a mirror frame, decorative pillows or furniture. This way the design will look complete.
Black and gray floor
The most calm option can be called a black and gray combination, it is quite complex, but in the overall design it looks stylish and cozy, without overloading the environment.
Which skirting board to choose?
A black floor is very versatile when choosing the right skirting board for it. It is recommended to use: narrow black, white wide skirting board or skirting board in tone with the color of the walls.
Floor covering design
Insertion of other colors
Black always looks impressive in combination with shades of precious metals. In combination with gold it adds luxury and warmth to the room, with silver – gloss to minimalism and hi-tech.

Chess
Chess geometry looks very festive and impressive. Black and white checkered pattern is a kind of classic in floor design. The effect can be modified depending on the choice of colors for the chessboard design.
Patterns and prints
Black and white floral patterns will create a calm and balanced interior. On a black background, patterns will look original and unusual.
Prints on a black floor look unusual and expensive if you choose the right color scheme.
Choosing a style
Minimalism and hi-tech
These styles are most characterized by black floors: minimalism does not tolerate many different colors, for it it is acceptable to use two shades from a contrasting or harmonious spectrum of colors, with an emphasis on one bright one. And high-tech loves simplicity and ultra-modernity in every detail. Black flooring will perfectly dilute the decor with versatility and minimalism.
Loft
Industrial loft requires adding as many industrial elements as possible to the design: the use of black will emphasize the style in the best possible way. For loft, as well as in the high-tech style, the cold color scheme of silver, black and white is inherent.
Classic
Black has long been considered a classic, therefore, the use of this color in the classic style is only welcome. It will create a special, aristocratic atmosphere of the room.

Scandinavian
A black floor will help to balance and create a bright and at the same time noble and extraordinary accent, it will be combined with the traditional white of the Scandinavian style, creating a color balance in the room.
