• Dark. It is worth mentioning right away – such furniture is suitable only for spacious bedrooms over 20-30 sq.m. And even in large rooms, it is necessary to balance active black, brown or gray with light trim – otherwise the atmosphere will be too gloomy.
• Colored. Avoid bright shades in bedroom furniture, it is best to choose any pastel ones. Blue or turquoise are considered the best, psychologists say these colors promote relaxation. Muted yellow and green also relieve stress and improve sleep.

Let’s move on to choosing materials:

• Chipboard. Most bedroom sets are made from chipboard. Such sets are distinguished by a wide choice of textures and colors, as well as an affordable price. However, when purchasing any items, ask the seller for certificates – because low-quality materials often emit toxic substances, which is unacceptable in living spaces.
• Natural wood. Eco-friendly, high-quality and durable. It comes in absolutely different shapes, but the main disadvantage of solid wood is the price. A bed and a couple of bedside tables will not be cheap, and if you add a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a table to this, the check will increase several times.

Advice: To ensure the quality of the goods before buying, viewing the documents for the goods is not enough. Be sure to conduct a visual inspection: check how the drawers and doors open and close, inspect the connecting parts, examine the surface for small details such as snags, drips, and unevenness.

Bedside tables do not necessarily have to be symmetrical and identical – replace one of them with a chest of drawers or remove it altogether to make the interior more modern.

Wardrobes are both freestanding and built-in – they are united with the rest of the furniture by facades. The size and shape (straight or corner wardrobe) is selected based on the dimensions of the room and the required storage space.

In addition to the wardrobe or instead of it, buy a chest of drawers. Unlike the previous version, its functions do not end with storage inside – a TV is often placed on the tabletop or used as a makeup area.

A dressing table is every woman’s dream, so that it does not stand out from the ensemble and looks harmonious, buy it in the same style as the bedroom set. A mirror must be hung or installed on top, do not forget about this when planning the lighting. An additional light source is necessary here.

If you often have to work from home, equip a cozy office right in the bedroom. For this you will need a desk and a comfortable chair.

Many bedroom sets include upholstered furniture items:

• it is convenient to put a bedspread on a bench at the foot of the bed before going to bed;
• chairs or poufs are used next to tables;
• a cozy armchair or couch will replace the area for rest or reading.

What is the best arrangement in the bedroom?

Whether you are installing a bedroom set or separate modules, you need to start with a plan. Even before buying, measure your room, make a drawing on paper or in a special program and think over the layout down to the centimeter. Such a simple method will help you not to make a mistake with the size and number of items.

The arrangement always starts from large to small. First of all, find a suitable place for the bed – it is better to install it with the headboard against the wall, leaving free passages of at least 60 cm on each side. This will make it convenient for anyone to move around and you can easily find suitable bedside tables.

The next item is a wardrobe. The main requirement for its installation is close to the wall so that it takes up as little space as possible. One of the most convenient places is on the side of the entrance (or two wardrobes on the sides of the door, if it is in the center of the wall). This way the wardrobe will remain unnoticed and will not visually eat up space. Another acceptable layout is two wardrobes on either side of the bed, with shelves or a wall-mounted storage unit hanging between them.

The choice of location for a chest of drawers is not limited, most often it is placed opposite the bed, hanging a TV above it. You can also replace one or both bedside tables with a chest of drawers.

It is logical to place a work or dressing table near the window – and for a right-handed person the window should remain on the left, and for a left-handed person – on the right. Then you will not block the light and additional lighting during the day will not be needed.

What does it look like in different styles?

Most often, bedroom sets are used in classic, neoclassical or baroque styles.

Baroque design is one of the most ornate – it is characterized by gilding, relief patterns, velvet with carriage coupler, complex original decor.

A classic bedroom set is elegant, but luxurious at the same time. Most often it is wooden, in a warm shade.

Neoclassicism in the interior is laconic, but no less chic. This style, unlike the first two, looks more modern and fresh.

The tenderness of the bedroom set in the Provence style promotes relaxation and creates an ideal calming atmosphere. The style is characterized by artificial aging, the use of forged and carved elements.

In a small bedroom, it is important to save space not only physically, but also visually. That is, the bedroom set should be compact, laconic and as light as possible. Here are some more tips for arranging a small bedroom:

• buy only the most necessary elements of the set, without which you definitely can’t do;
• choose multifunctional models: a bed with drawers, a chest of drawers with a dressing table;
• use glossy facades, glass and mirrors – they increase the space;
• raise the entire bedroom set above the floor – buy models on legs or hanging;
• reduce the depth – minus 10-15 cm from the closet will not make it less spacious, but will save space in the room;
• refuse decorative elements, the more laconic the set, the more compact it seems;
• buy the lightest models possible – high consoles on thin legs instead of squat rough nightstands, for example.
