Dry cleaning for water-based paint

This type of paint is the most sensitive to moisture. Therefore, if the painted wall has lost its former attractiveness, then light dirt (dust or cobwebs) can be removed with the most ordinary pipidaster. For the same purposes, you can use a broom, which must be wrapped in dry gauze and brush off the dirt.

If you come across a difficult stain, you can use a dry soft foam sponge. It is important not to press too hard, so as not to rub off the paint layer. In the most extreme cases, you can slightly moisten the sponge in a weak soap solution and gently clean off the dirt.

Soap for water-dispersion paints

Walls painted with water-dispersion paint are less susceptible to wet cleaning, so they can be washed, but very carefully, otherwise you can damage the paint layer.

The most effective detergent for washing water-dispersion paints is the most ordinary soap, or more precisely, a soap solution.

To prepare the solution, you will need a large grater on which you need to grate 50 grams of laundry soap in a container with 500 milliliters of clean and almost hot water.

To wash the walls, you will need a medium-hard sponge. Remember that you cannot use cloth napkins and sponges in this case.

Use paper towels, napkins, toilet paper to remove excess moisture and water from the wall surface.

Washing the wall:

  1. First, dry clean;
  2. Then wet the sponge in the soap solution and wet the problem area with it;
  3. Whip the soap solution into a foam and apply the foam to the wetted area;
  4. Rinse the brush in clean water;
  5. Remove dirty foam with a clean brush;
  6. Blot the wet area on the wall with a paper towel.

Important! During the washing process, do not rub the wall with either a brush or a paper towel!

Ammonia for oil and alkyd enamel

Such a surface has a strong and dense film that is resistant not only to moisture and water, but also to mechanical impacts. Therefore, such walls can be safely washed, but it is not recommended to use soap, soda or washing powders for this.

An excellent remedy for oil and alkyd enamel is an aqueous solution of ammonia, which can be prepared at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 1 liter of warm water.

The process of washing the wall is simple – you need to soak a sponge in a solution of ammonia and use it to rub the dirty area.

If ammonia does not help, then you can try fresh potatoes, the tuber of which must be grated on a fine grater, after which, apply the gruel to the sponge and rub the place with it dirt.

Baking soda for latex paints

Dirt from latex, acrylic and silicone coatings can be removed with almost any non-aggressive detergents. However, the real panacea is baking soda, which in the form of a gruel can cope with even heavy dirt.

To clean more extensive dirt, you can use a solution, for the preparation of which you will need:

  • 3 liters of clean water at room temperature;
  • 100 g of baking soda;
  • 50 ml of ammonia.

Starch against food residue

Greasy stains from food residue may appear on the wall surface, especially near the hob, dining table and switches. You can remove them with starch:

  1. Remove food residue with light movements so as not to smear the stain;
  2. Pour starch onto a dry napkin;
  3. Apply it to the greasy stain.

You can rub it lightly. If you don’t have starch at hand, talc will do.

Alcohol wipes for rust and ink

Alcohol wipes have ceased to be exclusively a medical product and have become a universal product that can be used to wipe off even traces of rust and ink from the surface of a painted wall.

Important! If you don’t have alcohol wipes, you can use regular wipes soaked in rubbing alcohol or vodka. It is not recommended to rub the wall surface hard!
