Finishing materials

A country-style bathroom is decorated exclusively with natural materials or their good imitations. Avoid plastic elements, glass, refuse artificial floor coverings, do not use suspended ceilings.

If you want to use ceramic tiles for finishing walls and floors, they should not have a modern pattern and bright colors, it is best if the tiles are simple, neutral shades found in nature.

Wood is often used in country-style bathroom design. It can be used to finish the ceiling, floor or walls. If the ceiling height allows, you can stretch wooden beams through it, this option is especially suitable for rooms in the French country style.

Stone tiles, natural or artificial, are ideal for the floor. You can also use them to decorate the walls. Brick, plaster, deliberately uneven, slabs imitating stonework – these are ideal finishing materials for walls.

Wallpaper with a “chintz” pattern is also acceptable – small flowers or bouquets on a calm pastel background, or fabric-covered panels.

Plumbing

The bathtub, sink, bidet, toilet should be classic, preferably oval. No right angles, sides are required. The more traditional the shape, the better. The bathtub can stand alone, on beautiful legs cast from cast iron. In addition to enamel, this style also recognizes bathtubs made of stone and wood – this is the most expensive, but also the most spectacular option.

Choose copper or brass faucets, and their shape should be traditional, or even better – with a hint of antiquity. If possible, mount the shower permanently on the wall, using a rigid pipe – this design is more in keeping with the style than a shower head on a flexible hose.

Furniture

A country style bathroom can be decorated with new furniture that matches the style. It is good if it has simple facades, wooden or imitating wood. But the best option would be to use old furniture – chairs, chests of drawers, cabinets, which can be restored and made to live a new life. Such an interior will be much more lively and original than the one created using modern MDF furniture.

You can also combine these two solutions: for example, decorate the room with new furniture and add one or two vintage items.

Country style bathroom design allows for multifunctional furniture, but preference is given to simple, unambiguous items: a cabinet should look like a cabinet, a chair – like a chair. Gloss and shine are undesirable effects, but worn, scratched or even chipped items, on the contrary, will look in their place.

Furniture can also have elements of wickerwork and forging. Forged table and chair legs, shelf brackets will fit perfectly into the style. The chair seats and laundry basket can be wicker.

Textiles and accessories

Country style bathroom design uses natural, lightweight fabrics such as chintz, satin, linen, and calico. If there is a window, country curtains should be short, gathered, or ruffled. Light, pastel colors are preferable, with a bright floral pattern or a simple ornament – checkered, striped, polka dotted. Towels can be linen or waffle or decorated with hand embroidery.

A special place in a country style bathroom is occupied by hand-made rugs, knitted from scraps or scraps of fabric. They can be round, rectangular, triangular or in the form of small “paths”. At the ends of such paths, tassels are usually made of threads.

Instead of modern mirrors, it is better to use an antique, large one and frame it in a wooden frame. If you can’t find an old mirror, you can “age” a new one. Hanging it like a picture, it will transform the room and add a mysterious atmosphere of a country house.

Country is an ideal style for creative people. It does not require strict order; it can withstand a large number of accessories. A country-style bathroom is always cozy, warm and full of hearth and homey memories.
