How to make large flowers on the wall?

Corrugated (crepe) paper has many advantages: it is easy to find in any craft store, as well as in office supply departments. It is usually sold in rolls, which, when rolled up, do not take up much space. For crafts, you can choose any color from the many presented in the assortment, while the price of corrugated paper is quite affordable – on average 70 rubles per roll. It is a pleasure to work with it – it easily takes the desired shape.

Big multi-colored flower

The photo shows a large flower made of corrugated paper, which will be a great decoration for the interior.

Tools and materials:

  • Corrugated paper: 7 rectangles 50×80 cm.
  • 7 clothespins or stationery clips.
  • Thin wire (can be found in floristry stores).
  • Sharp scissors.

Materials

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Take the first rectangle and fold a line about 4 cm wide. Turn the paper over and fold it again, pressing the edges with your fingers: in other words, fold the sheet like an accordion. Twist all 7 pieces in this way.
  2. Secure each piece with clothespins.
  3. Arrange the future petals in a row. Cut them so that the diameter of each layer is about 4 cm smaller than the previous one.
  4. Give shape to the petals. They can be made sharp or rounded.
  5. Cut each piece approximately to the middle on both sides:
  6. Remove the clothespins, straighten the sheets of corrugated paper and place them on top of each other. Fold into one large accordion.
  7. Tie the future flower with wire.
  8. Carefully form the petals, bending them upwards in layers and straightening them.
  9. Continue separating them from each other, giving the large flower volume.
  10. In the process, the petals can be adjusted with scissors.
  11. The large flower on the wall is ready! You can use several shades of paper, as shown in our master class, or create single-color or two-color buds.

    MK: flowers on a stand

There are several ways to create a large flower on a stand. Let’s consider one of them, making a delicate peony from corrugated paper. To make the stem, they most often use metal-plastic pipes that bend and hold their shape, as well as PVC pipes and cement.

    Flowers on stands

The photo shows large flowers on stands for decorating a room.

    Tools and materials:

    • Pink and green corrugated paper (3 meters).
    • Cardboard circle (any box will do).
    • Metal-plastic pipe (20-25 mm, sold in the plumbing department).
    • Glue gun.
    • Ruler.
    • Scissors.

    Materials

    Step-by-step instructions:

    1. Let’s get to work. Take 3 meters of paper and fold it in half along the long side. Measure a 6 cm segment from the edge, fold the paper in three layers:
    2. Cut the piece as shown in the photo, leaving about 3 cm at the bottom:
    3. Cut the “accordion” on both sides, giving it the shape of a petal.
    4. Its size should be about 20×8 cm:
    5. Using the same pattern, cut out a strip 1 meter long:
    6. Proceed to the second meter, but this time increase the elements by 2 cm (22×10).
    7. The third part should have petals measuring 24×12 cm.
    8. Twist the ends of the pieces:
    9. Straighten the paper and slightly stretch it:
    10. Make a circle of cardboard with a diameter of 30 cm. Paste it with corrugated paper.
    11. Take a glue gun and fix the smallest part in the center of the circle. The petals must be glued one by one.
    12. Glue the other two parts in a circle, gradually building up and straightening the flower. To give it splendor, you can glue in additional petals.
    13. Let’s start making the stand. Bend the metal-plastic pipe so as to make the base stable. If necessary, decorate it with green corrugated paper, securing it around the pipe, or paint it.
    14. Fix the cardboard circle to the upper edge of the “stem”:
    15. Glue the stem firmly to the large cardboard circle:

But when creating and using large flowers from corrugated paper, a logical question arises about caring for them. It is necessary to periodically clean them from dust that accumulates in the folds of the petals:

    • This can be done with a cleaning brush made of thin fibers or feathers. You need to carefully remove dust by brushing the flowers.
    • You can also use a hair dryer in cold air mode. If you turn on the hot stream, the petals will lose their shape. The air flow should be minimal.
    • Another option, but for advanced users, is a can of compressed air, which is used when cleaning the keyboard.

In addition, it is not recommended to place or hang dark or bright flowers near windows: corrugated paper can simply fade in sunlight.
