Scandinavian Coziness
Adherents of hygge—the philosophy of personal comfort that consists of simple little things—can’t imagine their home without candles. The Danes pay special attention to soft lighting, which gives warmth and a sense of security, so they light candles even during the day.
Place large-diameter cylindrical candles around the apartment – they burn longer and do not require candlesticks, or buy candles in special glass jars.
Create a composition
Rare candles look beautiful alone. Therefore, it is best to create a composition of several pieces, preferably of different heights.
- Both small and large candles look good in the interior in combination with natural materials – flowers, stones, shells, cones and fir branches.
- Combine products of the same or similar shades.
- Combine the set with a tray, a wooden box with low sides or a basket – this idea will give the composition integrity.
Add luxury
If you want the room to look more expensive, ordinary candlesticks will not do: choose pompous retro pieces on a thick figured leg. They will add character and appeal to the decor.
Both wooden and metal candlesticks will do: despite their classic design, they will fit into any style. To impress your guests, place the decor in a prominent place – a chest of drawers or a fireplace.
Total relaxation in the bathroom
If you love to soak in hot water, a candlelit bathroom will be a great addition to your favorite ritual. Leave a couple of them as decoration right on the shelf: this way they will catch the eye more often, evoking thoughts of rest and relaxation.
A few lit scented candles will easily and inexpensively turn the bathroom into a real spa salon, where it will be easy to restore strength.
Romantic mood in the bedroom
Candles placed on the bedside table will add romantic notes, and their soft light will help you tune in to sleep. They can also be placed on a dresser or dressing table, but remember the following important rules:
- place light sources at a safe distance from flammable objects;
- be sure to put out the fire before going to bed;
- ventilate the room after use.
The most environmentally friendly and safe candles are made from soy wax: they burn cleaner and produce less smoke than paraffin candles. Their price is slightly higher than that of regular products, but they also last longer.
Put them on the kitchen table
Candles in the kitchen interior can become a traditional decor if you give them a place of honor in the dining area. Put them on the table, complementing them with candlesticks or a tray, so that the temptation to arrange romantic dinners arises more often.
Candles will be a magnificent decoration for the New Year’s table as part of a festive composition. This could be a vase with fir branches or a New Year’s wreath.
Coffee table decor
A traditional way to diversify a living room is to place candles on a table in front of the sofa. Today, thin tall candlesticks are in fashion, which instantly attract attention with their elegance. Therefore, if you want to add elegance to your interior, use this technique.
Only place a tall candlestick if no one will push it over. If this option does not suit you, replace the thin product with a transparent vase: candles are ideally combined with glass, creating picturesque highlights.
Imitation of fire in fireplace
Both a non-working and a false fireplace will do. Facing the portal with tiles will ensure safety: you can place candles here and not be afraid of ignition. You can decorate the space with logs, using them instead of stands. Candlesticks of different lengths look ideal, creating multi-level lighting.
To “multiply” the number of candles in the interior, decorate the fireplace with a mirror, as in the second photo. This will make the lighting more voluminous.
Magic on the windowsill
Let the candlestick become a full-fledged participant in the window decor – on par with indoor flowers. Complement it with books or figurines.
The undoubted advantage of such an arrangement is that the lights will be reflected in the glass, creating a magical atmosphere.
Make unusual candles with your own hands
You can make decorative candles yourself – of any size, shape and color. All you need is an inexpensive candle melted in a double boiler and molds. Anything can be used: shells, orange halves without pulp, jars and regular cups. Melted wax crayons are suitable for coloring.
An economical option for small and tea candles is candlesticks in the form of glass jars decorated with burlap, twine, lace or paints. You can leave the jars untouched – just fill them a third with coffee beans, sand or stones, and put candles on top.
Candles in an apartment are a wonderful addition to the interior, as well as a reason to create a special mood. A huge variety of options for their placement will not leave anyone indifferent, as it will allow you to decorate the environment to your taste.
