A bathhouse with a cozy veranda

In small bathhouses, the plan often includes only space for a changing room, a washroom, and a steam room. In this case, the recreation area is usually taken out onto the veranda or terrace. Here you can place a barbecue, several benches, or equip a full-fledged dining area for evening gatherings.

For small areas, a bathhouse with an open veranda also helps save space: there is no need to build a separate gazebo. You can sit under the canopy both in the heat and during the rain.

As a rule, a small area is allocated for a veranda or terrace. However, there are modern layouts where the recreation area is many times larger than the steam room. In the open air, there is a soft zone, a jacuzzi and a mini-bar.

Blockhouse Facades

Despite the apparent variety, there are not many options for the exterior decoration of a bathhouse. The budget and time resources are often limited, so you have to choose something inexpensive, visually attractive and easy to install. The ideal option is blockhouse.

Imitating a rounded log, the material with a tongue and groove fastening repeats the texture of natural wood. Due to the variety of colors, it fits harmoniously into the natural landscape and helps to hide all the defects of the facade.

Baths with an unusual roof

When designing a bathhouse, one of the most important places is the choice of roofing structure. Traditional single-pitched, hipped and gable roofs occupy leading positions. The choice of a more original roof is often due to space savings, the presence or, conversely, strict financial savings and the specific architectural style of other buildings on the site.

If you plan to place a recreation room on top, several more complex roof types will do:

  • Mansard;
  • Multi-gable;
  • Hip.

For very small baths, vaulted, pyramidal and dome roofs are used, finished with flexible tiles.

In the same style as the house

Bathhouse buildings, as close as possible in architecture to residential buildings, look harmonious and stylish. The bathhouse does not stand out from the general ensemble. It can easily be mistaken for a guest house or a closed summer kitchen.

Carved decor

The decor of wooden houses and baths is historically associated with architecture and carving. Openwork canopies, railings, and architraves transform even the most inconspicuous facade into a fairy-tale tower.

It should be remembered that carved decor will be appropriate on facades made of natural wood. Intricate ornaments will help make a bathhouse made of large timber or rounded logs lighter and more interesting.

Contrasting facade design

You can add color to the facade design in several ways:

  • Siding.
  • Painting with facade paint.
  • Tinting with protective impregnations and azure.
  • Using contrasting additional elements.

It is important not to overdo it with this method. The landscape surroundings and the color scheme of other buildings should echo the façade of the bathhouse. Single buildings of too bright shades look awkward.

In the Scandinavian style

The Scandinavian style is distinguished by its laconicism, plenty of light, natural materials and colors. Light monochrome or wood shades are chosen for finishing the façade. Decor is replaced by large, often panoramic windows.

Clapboard facades

If you want a simple and laconic design, choose clapboard for the exterior. Boards of 10 mm and thicker are suitable for facade work. Imitation timber is most often used for the street. The boards are quite thick and wide. Visually, they are indistinguishable from profiled timber.

The clapboard can be left in its natural color, darkened with glazes or tinted. With the help of paints and protective impregnations, the facade can be given almost any shade.

Beautiful design of a bathhouse, house and outbuildings makes the area modern and attractive to the eye. Of course, the quality of the steam in the steam room will not change from the quality of the external finishing, but it is always more pleasant to be in a beautiful and well-kept room.
