Garden umbrella
One of the simplest options for creating shade: it is easy to assemble and install. You can find a budget option, use a beach umbrella or choose a design for installation in the center of the table. There is one drawback – the small size of the umbrella, and therefore the shade.
There are products that stand on a separate leg, which are large in size and look very stylish. This model should be put away at the end of the summer season.
Gazebo
A common way to create shade and a cozy corner in the garden. A gazebo made of wood is part of the landscape design, decorates the summer cottage and is built to last. The designs may differ in shape and configuration. There are:
- Open gazebos with a roof supported by vertical supports.
- Semi-open structures without solid walls, with a low fence around the perimeter.
- Closed “houses” equipped with windows and a door.
Tent or pavilion
Convenient and mobile structures. You can find a model for any budget: inexpensive tents are made of thin polyester and plastic. On a sunny day, they are an excellent protection from the scorching rays, and those equipped with mosquito net walls – from insects.
Thanks to the simple assembly, the product can be taken with you outdoors, but in squalls and heavy rains, such a structure is useless.
A more reliable structure is a pavilion with decorative metal posts and a roof made of water-repellent material. It is suitable for holding special events and will decorate your summer cottage.
Wooden pergola
This is an arch-shaped structure with a roof made of slats, beams or lattice. Initially, the pergola served as a support for climbing plants, and today it is used as a gazebo or a decorative addition to the site.
The structure protects from the sun, but not from the rain. It can be decorated with climbing roses, wild grapes, actinidia. It is installed separately on a flat surface or attached to the house.
Polycarbonate canopy
Such a structure has a number of advantages – a flexible and durable roof is resistant to moisture, transmits light, but not ultraviolet rays, and is lightweight. Polycarbonate is easy to work with. Usually, a canopy is erected using a metal frame, creating a modern gazebo in the garden or arranging an extension with a recreation area under the roof.
If it is necessary to retain heat inside the structure, dark polycarbonate should be chosen, and a canopy with maximum light penetration will require a transparent material.
Fabric canopy
A temporary measure for creating shade on a summer cottage. The material can protect from the sun, but not from the rain. Usually the canopy is hung under a tree, you can also use any supports – this is an excellent option for protection from the scorching rays.
The product is easy to find in a store, but it is more profitable to make it yourself: for this you will need a plastic hoop, 3-4 meters of fabric and tape with Velcro.
Tension awning or “sail”
This compact product, popular with mobile people, can be used not only in the garden, but also on a hike. Thanks to special fasteners, the inexpensive and durable awning can be easily stretched between free-standing posts, buildings or trees. It has water-repellent properties and is easy to wash with soapy water.
Living gazebo
Lovers of original ideas will appreciate an elegant willow gazebo. The tree grows very quickly, but it will take time to create a full-fledged canopy. Willow should be planted in a circle, and the raised shoots should be trimmed and directed. It will take 2-3 years to form a full-fledged gazebo.
The sun fills us with vital energy and lifts our spirits, but we should not forget about its dangers. Gazebos, awnings and umbrellas on a summer cottage will help create useful shade and decorate the local area.
