How to choose an apartment according to Feng Shui?

Feng Shui of an apartment begins with its purchase: the more favorable the housing is, the less effort will need to be put into its arrangement in the future.

Let’s start with numbers: house number, floor, apartment. Feng Shui practice recognizes only single-digit numbers, so all the numbers should be added up. It is better to do this separately for each value. For example, apartment No. 273, 2 + 7 + 3 = 12, 1 + 2 = 3. Number 3. Each number has its own meaning, the features of which can be used to your advantage:

1. The Sun reigns, housing is ideal for representatives of creative professions, as well as those who are starting a new life.
2. The Moon rules, the place is suitable for young families: it helps to strengthen relationships, have children.
3. Mars is an ally of modern technology. The apartment and house are suitable for gadget lovers, but be vigilant: the planet promises serious quarrels.
4. Mercury. Although in Asia the number is considered negative (the hieroglyph resembles the word “death” in spelling), all this is just a prejudice. In Feng Shui, Mercury means wealth, financial independence, career growth.
5. Jupiter favors a strong spirit, but loves space and freedom: it is best for the room to be large, while remaining uncluttered.
6. Venus is a symbol of family, the energy aura of the house is perfect for building a family nest, living with children.
7. Saturn is a nest of introverts. If life outside of society attracts you, look for an apartment under the lucky number 7.
8. Uranus loves money and will constantly throw problems with it at the household members in order to occupy their minds with this very topic.
9. Neptune is not about career or family, but rather about health: you will live a long time, but there is also a downside. The number nine literally feeds on the energy of its residents: both positive and negative.

Feng Shui, when choosing an apartment, makes demands not only on the numbers, but also on the location, shape, and view from the window.

Location

The ideas of Chinese philosophers about the best life are not much different from the thoughts of any sane person.

• The correct location is considered to be near a green park, sports arena, shopping center, gardens, and schools.
• Feng Shui calls hospitals, morgues, cemeteries, factories, prisons, as well as bars and shot glasses.

The history of the place where the house is located is no less important: try to avoid buying a home above old cemeteries, geological faults, dried-up swamps.

Shape of the house

The ideal shape, according to Feng Shui, is a P or horseshoe. In such a yard, chi energy accumulates, which works as a kind of battery for all residents.

View from the window

Feng Shui of any space will only benefit if the main windows look inside the horseshoe (into the yard). Directing the gaze to a beautiful city landscape, forest or park is also a plus to energy. A view of a landfill, prison, cemetery, factory, or neighbors’ windows is considered unsuitable.

Main zones and how to use them

The Taoist apartment plan differs significantly from the BTI scheme: the room is divided into 9 zones (sides), each of which has its own influence on one of the spheres of life. There are also energy amplifiers and things that weaken it: it is important to know them and use them correctly.

To determine the places of power, you will need a compass: fortunately, today most smartphones have one.

How to furnish an apartment?

Once the home has been purchased and the zones have been determined, it is time to move on to interior design.

Color

The correct use of the palette not only activates the necessary zones, but also helps to create the right overall atmosphere.

For example, red accents, especially in combination with gold, help to attract wealth. Blue is calming, suitable for relaxation, spiritual search. Yellow activates a positive mood.

Furniture arrangement

Now I suggest analyzing the general rules of Feng Shui applicable to the entire apartment:

• Preference for objects on legs. It is advisable to “tear” cabinets, wardrobes, a sofa, a bed off the floor.
• Proportionality. You can’t place a lot of objects in a small room: the smaller the space, the fewer things there should be in it.
• Decorating corners. Joints should be “protected” from the accumulation of negative energy. The best options for this are cabinets, racks, shelves, and indoor plants. The main thing is not the main items: you can’t put a sofa in the living room or a bed in the bedroom in the corner.
• No shelves or cabinets overhead. Many people like to mount a bed or sofa in a niche made of cabinets – you can put tall units on the sides, but hanging cabinets or shelves over the seat or bed is not recommended.

Features of different rooms

1. Hallway. The entrance to the apartment should not be located directly opposite the elevator or stairs. To “catch” energy, use the color red: the location of the zones will tell you where exactly.
2. Kitchen. It is desirable that the cooking area is not visible from the front door. It is also unacceptable to highlight the kitchen space with a difference in height. The hearth, that is, the stove, is not installed opposite the door or window.
3. Living room. Take care of high-quality lighting, especially in the corners and points far from the center – light conducts Qi. Be sure to put a table in the center (preferably round, oval), and upholstered furniture next to it. The sofa and armchairs should not stand with their backs to the doors – it will be uncomfortable to sit in them. Quality rest is possible only with free circulation of energy: avoid clutter, living plants and small accents are enough for decor.
4. Bedroom. The bed is always placed first, opposite no portals – mirrors, doors. Remove photos of other family members and children from the room, and give up the TV.

What do you need to know about doors and windows?

Doors

They should be proportionate (not small, not large), open inward to the room (especially the living room), it is advisable to choose interior doors of the same size.

Avoid layouts where doors are located opposite each other.

Windows

The most important point in all respects is opening. Exclusively to the side and inward, no up-down, outward. Too large (panoramic), as well as too small are also not suitable. If two windows are opposite each other, one should be curtained.

What to do with non-standard layouts?

Unfortunately, there are very few apartments that are absolutely correct in shape and location. But even if your home is located in an unfavorable area or its appearance does not fit into the ideas of the ancient practice of Feng Shui, the situation can be corrected.

Narrow room

Mirrors are hung in a wave-like pattern in the hallway so that the energy passes inside (not opposite each other, but offset). The living room or bedroom can be divided with screens, partitions, as if zoning the space.

L-shaped layout

According to Feng Shui, it is also better to divide the room, turning it into two separate rooms of the correct shape. If the corner “cuts off” one of the zones, large mirrors are placed in it – they compensate for the lack of energy.

Irregular geometry

Rounded walls are one of the favorite original techniques of architects. Remember one thing: without clear parallelism of verticals, harmony is not visible, so roundings are masked with partitions. The same should be done with beveled corners – your personal task is to achieve a square or rectangular space.

Bay window

While these cute protrusions are considered the ultimate dream all over the world, Feng Shui philosophy does not accept them due to the violation of correct geometry. To visually block the effect of a bay window, it is enough to fence it off – with curtains, a sofa, a screen.

What is absolutely forbidden to do?

When renovating and furnishing a room, we recommend avoiding:

• Garbage. According to Feng Shui, the house is kept clean – do not clutter any room (especially the balcony!), get rid of old, broken, unnecessary things in a timely manner, empty the trash can.
• Multi-level. Avoid podiums or recesses. An exception is giving the room the correct shape – that is, the podium can be made on the bay window.
• Empty corners. Mask them with anything – they are a source of Sha energy.
• Photos of distant relatives, the deceased. The rule is simple: only images of its residents can hang in the apartment.
• Dark areas. There should be a lot of light – it is the light that conducts the energy we need.

It is not easy to decorate a home according to all the rules of Feng Shui, but it is extremely interesting: do not spare your efforts so that the space will soon work for you.
