Which stove is better to choose?
According to design features, there are 3 types of gas stoves:
- Floor-standing. Standard models that stand on the floor. Their main disadvantage is that they are isolated; it will be more difficult to fit them into the kitchen unit. In addition, the oven cannot be placed in a pencil case or column. Modern appliances are divided into fully gas (gas burners and oven) or combined (electric oven + gas or gas and electric burners).
- Built-in. The hob is purchased separately from the oven. Advantages: you can choose a different size, color, style, and brand of model. You can also place them separately, leaving the hob on the table and raising the oven to hand level, or moving it along the bottom to another convenient side.
- Tabletop. In addition to being inexpensive and compact, these stoves, in theory, have one advantage: mobility. You can move it from one place to another, put it away in a cupboard. In fact, in apartments with a central gas pipeline, this advantage is lost: it is forbidden to turn off the stoves yourself. But this option is ideal for houses or cottages where the gas source is a cylinder.

The next important nuance by which to choose a stove is the burners. Firstly, their size: if you usually use large pots and pans, choose wide models with large burners. Previously, the standard was a surface with one small, two medium and one large – but today you can find almost any combination.
Secondly, quantity. In kitchens with gas stoves, 4-burner models are usually used: it is convenient to put several items, cook 2-3 dishes at once and boil a kettle. In fact, in many cases 2 is enough: especially if 1-2 people or more live in the apartment, but they cook rarely. This is also a great way to save space in a small kitchen. For large families and housewives who cook constantly, there are variations with 5-6 burners.

The coating should be mentioned separately. There are 3:
- Enamel. Regular stoves are white, black, brown. But there are also red, blue, yellow, green ones. Enameled models are inexpensive and last a long time. The disadvantages include the possibility of chipping and difficulty in maintenance.
- Stainless steel. It is easier to clean than enamel, but requires the use of special detergents. It looks stylish, but is always the same. It is more expensive than the first material.
- Glass ceramics. It looks like an induction or electric stove, but has gas burners. Glass ceramic panels look stylish (suitable for a modern interior) and are easy to maintain. They are more expensive than their analogues.
And the last important detail is the type of control. It can be mechanical (rotary knobs) or touch-sensitive. The knobs are difficult to wash, dirt gets stuck under them – so among mechanical options, give preference to recessed handles.
How to fit it into your kitchen interior beautifully?
A kitchen with a gas stove can be beautiful! To achieve this, you need to find a model of a suitable color and design.
The color range varies from classic white (universal for any style), beige (usually has a classic design), black (will fit perfectly into a dark kitchen or loft style). To colored: enamel gas stoves can be dark (burgundy, indigo), bright (yellow, red), muted (blue, pink).
Colored ones are most often combined with a refrigerator, dishwasher: for an exact match, choose products from the same company.

Neutral shades are selected to match the kitchen set. It is logical to choose white enamel for white furniture: even non-built-in will literally dissolve in the room. Light beige cabinets against the background of a snow-white stove can look dirty, so beige appliances or stainless steel are better for them.
Black models are appropriate in any kitchen, but it is better to combine them with a refrigerator and hood. Stainless steel is also combined with appliances and a sink.
The mismatch of styles is as striking as the color. Bronze lambs, figured oven windows, and a combination of beige and black are appropriate in a classic kitchen design.
Minimalistic design, straight shapes, and lack of decor — this is what stoves for a modern interior look like. Stainless steel, as if chromed models, with inserts made of black metal and glass, touch control — a godsend for a high-tech kitchen style.
Important points for small kitchens
When arranging a small kitchen, the main goal is the same: preserving usable space. Although the fireplace is the main point of the room, it is better to give preference to a small functional model.
Example: the standard width of the floor plate is 60 cm, but there are models of 45-50 cm. On an area of 5-6 sq.m. even 10 cm of kitchen countertop can play a decisive role. If the model is built-in, it is better to give preference to a 2-burner one – it is enough to cook for 2-3 people.

When designing a kitchen, you should also remember to choose the right place to organize the cooking area:
- 50 cm from the sink. The danger of water getting in and extinguishing the fire makes the gas hob and faucet bad close neighbors in the kitchen.
- 60 cm from the window. Burning gas opposite an open window = risk of extinguishing or fire. For the same reason, you should not use flying curtains in the kitchen – only special heavy curtains (roller, Roman, blinds).
- 50 cm from the refrigerator. Cooling and heating elements should not be close to each other – this is unsafe and extremely inconvenient. In a corner set, it is better to place items on different sides.
- You cannot put the stove in a corner – the proximity of walls or cabinets is not the most convenient option.
What is important to know about redevelopment?
A gas stove in the kitchen interior can become a problem if you are planning to do a major renovation with a change in layout. The rules described in the resolution “On the organization of the reconstruction and (or) redevelopment of residential and non-residential premises in apartment buildings and residential buildings” say a strict “no” to demolishing the wall between the kitchen and the living room or any other room.
To implement the redevelopment, you need to fulfill one requirement from the same resolution: “the presence of a tightly closing door in a gasified room.” That is, having created a project that provides for the demolition of the wall in the kitchen and the installation of reliable hinged or sliding doors in its place, you will most likely be able to obtain the necessary permission.
Important! In panel houses, almost all internal floors are load-bearing, so they cannot be demolished – the maximum is to make a reinforced opening of 80-90 cm with a door.
In theory, in a kitchen with a gas stove, you can install an electric one, but the process of refusing gas and laying a cable can be a problem, it will require effort and time.
- First of all, an application is submitted to the gas service to call a master who will put a plug on the passing pipe.
- Next, you will need permission to install the stove from the power company – for this, a power cable must run into the apartment (in many old buildings, it will have to be pulled from the transformer booth).
- When the cable is laid, you will no longer have to pay for gas, and the electricity tariff will be lower.

Beautiful ideas for inspiration
Kitchen units with a gas stove can look stylish! To do this, you can choose one of two tactics: either mask the hob (choosing the color of the countertop), or deliberately highlight it, emphasizing both the equipment itself and the communications leading to it.
