Hallway in a 64 sq. m. Moscow apartment

The last time the room was renovated was in the 90s. Peach-colored wallpaper and herringbone parquet were replaced with modern materials: the walls were painted light gray, and the floor was decorated with colorful tiles.

The flooring became the main accent, uniting the decor with an ethnic theme. The massive mezzanine was dismantled, as the apartment was designed to have a lot of storage space. The interior for a young family has become more spacious and visually lighter.

The hallway with pink walls has been transformed beyond recognition: the partitions have been torn down, the old linoleum has been replaced with a concrete-like covering. Two deep closets with additional partitions have been installed on both sides of the door leading to the bathroom. In one of them, they hid the electrical panel, in the other, they placed a boiler and a washing machine.

The walls and doors were painted a deep shade of green, and the ceiling was black.

Hallway in a one-room Khrushchev-era apartment

The new owner received an apartment with peeling walls and a dilapidated floor. After the remodeling, the main drawback of the old hallway – the concrete beam of the crossbar – turned into part of a niche for outerwear.

The walls were covered with gray-coffee paint, and the furniture and ceiling were chosen white. Quartz vinyl tiles were used for finishing the floor: they look like natural wood, but last longer than laminate.

Black hallway in an old French apartment

The room had not been renovated for about 20 years. A small hallway led to a blind door of the kitchen. The design project diagram shows that after the renovation the whole apartment became light, and the hallway was darker than before. The designers made this deliberate move to emphasize the contrast: behind the door, spacious, brightly lit rooms open up.

To slightly expand the space of the hallway and save space, the door to the kitchen was made sliding, with a glass insert.

A corridor in an old house for a young journalist

A Moscow apartment in a house built in 1965 has area 48 sq.m. A small dark wagon-shaped hallway with several doors was decorated in light, cheerful tones. The walls were covered with wallpaper with floral patterns.

One door was installed on a hidden frame and disguised as wallpaper. The result was an invisible door that did not attract attention. The door to the living room was abandoned. The high doorway was emphasized by an original dressing table, and the door to the bedroom was made an accent, painted in a mint shade.

An apartment in an old building for a business woman

Initially, the entire apartment was pierced by a long corridor, but after the redevelopment, it was gotten rid of, combining it with the living room. The walls were painted yellow and decorated with moldings. One of the walls is occupied by a mirror, expanding the space and reflecting natural light.

An elegant console with drawers was installed to store small items, and a dressing room was provided for clothes. The decor is a herbarium collected and decorated by the designer.

Another example of combining an entrance hall and a living room. The layout flaws (a useless hallway and a small kitchen) were eliminated after the renovation, and the bathroom was also enlarged. The floor was tiled, and open hangers were provided for temporary storage of clothes. Shoes and hats are hidden in built-in systems: shoe racks and mezzanines. The dressing room was arranged in the apartment.

The aspiring designer did all the renovations herself. The Scandinavian interior with white walls and floors includes contrasting details: a black door painted with chalk paint and Swedish wallpaper with a geometric pattern.

The storage system is open – the fasteners are screwed to the ceiling, and thick wires are connected to the curtain rod. The white cabinet opposite the entrance disguises the cat litter box.

Hallway before After After renovation

Hallway in the apartment for a middle-aged married couple years

Before the renovation, the hallway resembled a landing in a building: all four doors leading to different rooms were on the same patch. The designers managed to smooth out this impression by removing contrasting details.

All the doors are a neutral beige color that echoes the striped wallpaper. The entrance door is decorated with a full-length mirror, which makes the small hallway look larger and more “airy”.

Hallway with a painting that expands the space

After the renovation of the apartment, the purple hallway became white, a wooden shoe rack and an original mirror appeared. A washing machine was placed in a niche next to the entrance. The main decoration of the empty partition wall was the image of the city, which visually expanded the narrow corridor.
