Paint

According to regulations, gas workers need free access to all elements of the gas infrastructure, so it is impossible to seal the pipe tightly – this threatens not only a fine and prosecution by inspectors, but also an explosion in the event of a leak.

To avoid the element attracting unnecessary attention, paint it the color of the walls, tiles or wallpaper – this way the unwanted pipe will no longer be conspicuous.

Acrylic or oil paint, as well as nitro enamel, are used for painting. The procedure is as follows:

  1. turn off the gas;
  2. clean the surface;
  3. prime;
  4. paint;
  5. wait for the first layer to dry, then apply paint again.

Remove to cabinet

The reason for the peculiar arrangement of pipes and their bends is strict regulations. It is not easy to hide a curved gas pipeline, but it is possible to close at least some of the “inconvenient” communications.

When ordering a kitchen, provide wall and floor cabinets with openings in the right places: this will allow you to close the gas pipe, and the aesthetics will hardly suffer.

It is important that the gas pipeline is freely accessible, and the cabinets are not deprived of natural ventilation. This will prevent gas from accumulating during a leak.

Hide among the shelves

If you are a fan of open kitchens and prefer to use shelves instead of cabinets, the gas pipe will not be a problem. It will fit well into a modern interior and, being among jars, bottles and decor, will not attract attention.

The pipe will look harmoniously next to a railing matched to the tone: all the cutlery will be placed on it, and the communication itself will look like an integral part of the system.

A horizontal utility pipe located at a height is easy to disguise by installing a shelf under it and placing kitchen utensils on it.

Make a box

A specially designed box will allow you to completely hide the gas pipe. According to the rules, it should be removable and not interfere with air circulation, and also not create additional pressure on the pipe. Access to the valves should remain free.

If desired, you can make the box of an unusual shape, turning it into a small cabinet. You will need a metal profile, plasterboard and finishing material for finishing decoration.

Shift attention

If you have chosen a stylish modern set, added interesting decor, and the kitchen turned out to be harmonious and expressive, who will notice the gas pipe against this background? But if this element irritates you and does not give you peace, cover it with a bright picture, creating an unusual gallery on the upper cabinets.

If the pipe is located high enough from the stove and is horizontal, throw warm LED garlands on it: in the evenings they will create a cozy romantic atmosphere, and the pipe will serve as a practical addition.

Cover with a false wall

The most difficult and labor-intensive way to reliably hide the gas pipeline is to install a false wall, observing key safety requirements. The wall level is increased using sheets of plasterboard and metal profiles, leaving hatches for access to valves and meters. The openings should be located opposite all technical units.

A ventilation grille must be installed at the top of the false wall: air exchange will prevent gas from accumulating during a leak. It is also worth installing a gas analyzer, which will inform you about the presence of dangerous impurities in the air.

Turn a disadvantage into an advantage

If you are a connoisseur of the loft style, then utility lines will be an ideal addition to the kitchen interior. However, any modern style – be it contemporary, fusion, Scandinavian or eclectic – welcomes such expressive details in the interior, giving it character.

Paint the pipes to look like metal – copper and gold shades are in fashion – or make them an accent by covering them with bright contrasting paint.

Whether to hide gas lines or not is up to you, but following safety rules should remain unchanged.
