Renovation of a two-room Khrushchevka for 800 thousand rubles + before and after photos

How did this renovation begin and how did it end? The client contacted designer Elzbieta Chegarova for a project for her elderly parents.

The Moscow apartment with a small kitchen, a long hallway, and a rectangular room had to accommodate two beds and enough closets for storage.

The designer called her project “Blueberry Pie”, and the client herself was responsible for its implementation (renovation and furniture purchase).

Layout

Elzbieta made good use of the hallway space by installing two closets on the hallway side and a refrigerator on the kitchen side. She combined the toilet and bathroom into one combined bathroom. The living room and kitchen could not be combined because of the gas equipment, but the designer found a way out by using a sliding door.

Hallway

The light entrance area with open hangers and shelves above them is distinguished by its laconicism and airiness. The narrow shoe rack from Ikea does not take up much space in width and serves as a console for small items. There are boxes for hats on the shelves – this makes the furnishings look much neater. The walls in the hallway are covered with clapboard and painted Tikkurila, color H353. The storage area is separated by a curtain.

Kitchen

The area of the kitchen is only 4 sq. m. The apron is decorated with Spanish tiles Vives with ornaments reminiscent of old tiles.

The kitchen set almost exactly repeats the visualization: every centimeter is used as functionally as possible.

The light-colored furniture, glass facades, simple roller blinds and ceiling lighting with Ferroluce spotlights help visually expand the space.

The owners decided to do without the microwave, since there was no room for it. The wall next to the sink was protected with a tempered glass screen.

Living room

The interior of the living room before the renovation was shabby and ill-conceived:

Now it combines several functions at once and serves as a living room, bedroom and study. The sofa is fold-out, so it acts as a sleeping place. It is located in a niche of cabinets: two wardrobes on the sides and two hanging ones between them. This design creates coziness and serves as a place to store many things. All furniture was bought at Ikea.

The design of the living room almost completely repeats the visualization of the project, the owners especially accurately reproduced the mini-study and TV area. In the far corner of the room, the owners of the apartment put a regular ottoman, but if desired, it can be replaced with a sofa with drawers – then there will be more storage space.

Bathroom

The area of the bathroom is 3.4 sq. m. After combining the bathroom and toilet, there was room for a washing machine, and after replacing the bathtub with a shower, there was room for a closet and a laundry basket.

The mirrored facades and light Kerama Marazzi tiles make the bathroom seem even wider. Now it is a comfortable and maximally ergonomic room.

The apartment space is united by a common color scheme. All the furniture is light, roomy and multifunctional. Thanks to the well-thought-out design and successful implementation, the 28-meter Khrushchevka has become a wonderful place for a comfortable and happy life.
