Book Pot

Tools and Materials

You will need the following:

  • An old book – one or more.

  • A plant and soil.

Old Books

Step-by-step instructions

How to make an art flowerpot:

1. Carefully glue the pages with PVA glue, without touching the cover. Put it under the press. After drying, you should get a hard book that will not be afraid of moisture.

Gluing the book

2. Mark the place for the future recess with a pencil. If desired, you can glue two books together.

Taking measurements

3. After complete drying, cut out a depression for the plant, stepping back 3 cm from the edge. Use a stationery knife.

4. Secure the transparent polyethylene film with glue. The edges can be trimmed after filling the art pot with soil and planting the plants, so as not to stain the cover.

Fixing the film

5. Place a drainage layer on the bottom, add soil and replant the plant. It is better to water a little, but regularly.

Fabric flowerpot

One of the simple ways to make “clothes” for a pot is to sew it from thick material. You can use linen, double-thread, felt. This way you can easily disguise an unsightly plastic pot and add coziness to the atmosphere. You won’t have to replant the plant.

Plywood flowerpot

Wood is a fertile material, but an even more reliable and simple way to decorate an unsightly pot is to use plywood. It is cheaper, thinner, easier to process and is practically not afraid of moisture.

Tools and materials

To create such an original flowerpot in an ethnic style, you will need:

  • A piece of plywood – the size and thickness depends on the dimensions of your pot. The box can be not only square, but also rectangular.
  • Jigsaw.
  • Wood stain.
  • Nail gun or hammer and small nails.
  • Sandpaper.
  • Film – if there is no pot and you want to pour soil into the box.
  • Plant.
  • White acrylic paint and a brush.

Step-by-step instructions

Let’s start creating:

1. Cut the plywood with a jigsaw. This is the most labor-intensive process, so you can order sawing into long boards in the store, and make short cuts yourself at home.

2. Assemble 5 parts using nails and a hammer. The sides should overlap the bottom.

3. Sand the product with sandpaper to get rid of defects. We cover it with stain to protect the plywood and bring out the wood texture.

4. We paint the flowerpot with an ornament using white acrylic paint and let it dry completely.

5. We cover the inside with thick film if you want to protect the material from moisture. Instead of film, you can use a cut plastic bottle to fit the size – the lush plants will disguise it.

6. Flowerpots can be of any size and color – the result is limited only by your imagination. Wooden boards, boxes and pallets are suitable as the source material.
