A selection of master classes

There are many different options for making tables from wooden containers that you can do yourself. In this part of the article, we will share five ideas with you and show the entire process step by step.

Computer desk made of pallets

This version of a computer desk will fit into any room in the house. The size of the tabletop ensures maximum functionality.

To make such a piece of furniture, you will need three pallets (one for the tabletop and two for the legs). The workflow is performed in the following order:

1. Preparing the legs. Cut the pallets in accordance with the height and width of the future table. Sand them carefully, smoothing out all the irregularities.

2. Tabletop. To make the tabletop, you can use a whole pallet measuring 1200 * 800. Sand it carefully.

The top of the tabletop can be decorated in different ways. One option is to take glass of a suitable size and lay it on top. In this case, the surface of the furniture will be smooth.

The second option is more labor-intensive. It is necessary to fill all the gaps in the tabletop with boards. Then comes the process of sanding the surface. Everything is cleaned of dust and dirt. It is treated with a primer. All cracks and holes are sealed with wood putty. Allow time to dry, and sand again.

3. Assembling the table. Attach the tabletop to the legs.

4. Varnish the finished product. Apply several layers of varnish.

The project is ready.

Low table made of pallets in a rustic style

To make this table, you will need two pallets. It can be installed both at home and on the site.

Follow the tutorial to learn how to build a low table from wooden containers yourself:

1. Using a hammer and a crowbar, disassemble one pallet. Work very carefully so as not to make cracks and chips.

2. Cut 4 pieces of 45 cm each from the support strips. These will be the future legs.

3. Using sandpaper, smooth all the edges of the legs.

4. Turn the second pallet over. Fasten all the legs to the bars along the edges using 8 cm long screws.

5. Place the pallet on the legs. Fill all the gaps between the boards with the material left over from disassembling the first pallet.

6. Use a sander to sand the entire table.

7. Clean the table from dust and paint it with stain or varnish.

If you are going to use the table outdoors, then it is necessary that the wood after sanding first be treated with an antiseptic.

Hexagonal dining table

When making a table from pallets with your own hands, it is not necessary to make it a standard rectangular shape. Try building this hexagonal dining table, which can also be used as a gaming table or for hanging out with friends.

For this project, you will need three pallets (size 1200*800).

The tabletop consists of 6 equilateral triangles that are connected to each other with screws. You can make 2 triangles from one pallet. In advance, prepare a template of an equilateral triangle with sides of 67 cm from thick cardboard. Using this template, you will make markings on the pallets. The tabletop diagram is attached below.

Stages of manufacture:

1. Use a pencil to mark the triangles on the pallets. When marking, make sure that the nails are not along the cut line.

Marking the triangles

2. Using a corner, transfer the bottom points of the triangle along the edge of the pallet down.

Transferring the points to the bottom side

3. Fill all the gaps between the boards in three pallets with standard slats from wooden containers.

4. Cut out triangles according to the markings. You can use a flat board secured with clamps as a guide.

Sawing out triangles

5. Turn the pallets over, trace the triangles again and finish sawing them on the bottom boards. You should now have six triangles in front of you. If you’ve done everything correctly, you should be able to assemble a hexagonal tabletop.

6. Lay the triangles out so that the top surface is facing down to form a hexagon.

Assembling the Tabletop

7. Connect the triangles to the outer slats and boards using wood screws.

8. To connect the center of the table to the outside edge, you will need 6 boards with beveled sides. Measure them, cut them and screw them in place.

Strengthening the tabletop

9. Turn the tabletop over and glue all the loose parts of the tabletop.

10. Sand the entire surface of the tabletop to smooth out any uneven areas. If desired, seal with clear varnish.

11. Attach six hairpin legs that are the same length as the height of the dining table.

Coffee Table

This coffee table is easy to create using old pallets. Read the instructions for making it:

1. Having decided on the length and width of the future table, cut off the excess parts of the pallet. This can be done using a hand or electric circular saw.

2. Cut the boards from the pallet to the required length. Fill all the gaps between the boards at the top of the table with them, using a hammer and nails. Select boards of the same thickness.

3. Reinforce the bottom of the table with boards. Nail two boards to the edges so that there is enough space to attach the legs. Reinforce with one board in the center.

4. Screw on the legs. For this project, hairpin legs were used, which can be purchased online.

Large table for handicrafts

This stylish and original table for handicrafts can be made with your own hands from pallets. Step-by-step instructions are as follows:

1. Disassemble the pallets. Take suitable parts without splits and cracks.

2. Decide on the dimensions of the tabletop. In the project, the table has dimensions of 1800 * 1000.

If you look at the photo of the finished product, you will notice that it consists of three parts: top, middle and bottom. Decide on the dimensions of each part.

3. Cut the pallet boards to size. There should be enough boards to cover the entire tabletop. Keep in mind that the top and bottom of the tabletop are assembled from vertical boards.

Cut boards

4. Prepare three supports for the tabletop. They will become part of it.

Tabletop supports

5. Plan the middle part in advance, on which the boards lie horizontally. The boards of the middle part will need to be recessed into the support so that the lower and upper parts are at the same height. Use a saw to make a recess in the middle of the supports.

6. To assemble the vertical boards for the upper and lower parts, use threaded metal studs. Their length is equal to the length of the tabletop. Two studs for each part. A total of 4 pcs. are needed for the project.

7. Drill two holes for studs in each board intended for the upper and lower parts of the table.

8. Now drill holes for the studs in the three main supports.

9. Sand all the holes so that nothing sticks out. The boards should fit tightly against each other.

10. Assemble the top and bottom. To do this, insert the studs into the center support. Start pushing the boards onto the studs. Do not assemble one side completely and then move on to the other. Alternate sides.

Assembling the tabletop

11. Tap with a hammer, from time to time helping the boards to be tighter to each other.

Tightening the boards

12. Screw a nut onto each rod from both sides and tighten well. Make a hole in the support for the nut in advance.

Tightening the tabletop

13. Make a smooth bend at the bottom of the table for beauty. This step is optional, but it adds a special touch to the finished product.

Smooth Curve of the Tabletop

14. Attach the middle boards.

15. Level the entire surface of the table. Use a sander to go over the entire tabletop to make it even and smooth. Round off the corners.

Sanded tabletop

16. If desired, you can paint the tabletop in different colors. Acrylic paints are perfect for this.

17. Make the legs. Make the lower frame from pallet wood. And the legs can be bought ready-made or made from timber. Then attach them to the frame using screws.
