Garlands
The most obvious solution is a cheerfully sparkling electric garland, which can be let loose in waves, laid out in the form of a thematic figure (a Christmas tree, a star, bells) or a congratulatory inscription (Happy New Year!) An original garland is easy to make yourself from multi-colored paper, tinsel, flags, and postcards. Children will be happy to help you with this endeavor.
Numbers “written” with a garland, denoting the coming year, always look relevant – in our case, it is a beautiful round number “2022”.
Photos
A good tradition has arisen in Western Europe before Decorate the wall of the living room with a string of photographs at Christmas, reminding us of the significant events of the past year, happy (anniversary, housewarming, wedding, birth of a baby, graduation, promotion) and sad, we will not name them. Try to follow the example of foreigners.
Looking at such a photo gallery, you especially acutely and deeply feel the transience of life and understand the philosophical meaning of the winter holidays, which are considered family holidays all over the world.
Snowflakes
You can place such decorations not only on the windows, as is customary in our country, but also on the walls. Snowflakes are easy to draw, make from twigs, depict using threads stretched between nails, crochet or cut out of paper.
The latter skill is usually laid in kindergarten, and many adults lose it over the years. A video tutorial will help refresh your memory.
Branches
Wall art compositions made of branches, ribbons, bells, cones and Christmas tree decorations fit harmoniously into the Christmas interior. A lush spruce branch will be a worthy replacement for a full-fledged New Year tree if you do not want or cannot install one.
Instead of live pine needles, which will fall on the carpet in a myriad of hard-to-pick out needles, take a picturesque bare branch and cover it with silver paint, imitating frost.
Socks
In America, it is common practice to hang stockings, socks, mittens or boots with the names of each family member on the fireplace before the New Year, so that Santa Claus, who comes down the chimney, can put the presents there and not mix anything up. Of course, one of the adults has to work as a fairy-tale character, sneaking around at night with a pile of boxes or sweets.
Such Christmas attributes are sold in abundance in the store, but if you did not have time to buy them, let everyone hang their own sock, choosing the brightest, prettiest or… biggest!
Christmas tree
What does a kitten lack in its body if it eats New Year’s tinsel? Polyethylene? Impressions? Intelligence? This remains a mystery. Human children are also not very smart, but they are energetic and curious, and the beautiful Christmas tree attracts them. If you recognize your annual adventures in this chronicle, it would be better to depict a figure of a Christmas tree on the wall.
A spruce turned upside down and decorated with golden toys is a powerful esoteric symbol, like a funnel, attracting good luck and wealth.
Sleigh
It is difficult to make a large composition in the form of Santa Claus racing in a reindeer sleigh through the snow with a sack of gifts from garlands or threads; it is much easier to draw. But not everyone has a talent for fine art, and how can you wash the wall afterwards? There is a way out.
This year, huge stickers with a festive theme are in fashion. They look great on a plain, contrasting wall and are easy to peel off without leaving marks.
Ball
Balls of different sizes made from fir or pine cones found in the nearest forest look elegant in a New Year’s interior – they are free. You can hang them with a ribbon or string attached to the inside, and decorate and ennoble them with white spray paint and glitter hairspray.
The easiest way to make such a ball is to use a child’s ball as a base, and if you don’t have one at hand, use foam or carefully crumpled newspaper.
Wreath
The same pine cones and pine branches can be used to make wonderful New Year’s wreaths that can be hung on a wall or door. It is not difficult to weave such a decor, if only there is raw material and desire, and if there are problems with the first, but there is plenty of the second, it makes sense to buy in a hobby salon or order in an online store a corresponding set for home creativity with detailed instructions and the necessary materials.
The Christmas wreath looks most appropriate above the fireplace, but not every home has one. Let’s consider an alternative below.
Fake fireplace
Winter holidays are firmly associated with family gatherings by the hearth, the cozy sounds of crackling logs, life-giving warmth and dancing tongues of flame. But only owners of private houses and hefty wallets can afford such pleasure, and apartment dwellers with a modest budget have to make do.
Decorate the wall with a decorative fireplace, which can be constructed in a few hours from scrap materials – cardboard boxes, for example.
