Remodeling into a studio with a “cube”

The area of this Khrushchev-era apartment is 30 sq. m. Architect Albert Baghdasaryan designed a new interior for its owners, creating an unusual structure in the center of the studio. The “cube” made from the walls is lined with wood and blends perfectly with the light interior.

Layout

Inside the “cube” there is a small bathroom and a wardrobe for outerwear. Thanks to the invisible doors, decorated with the same material, the structure looks integral and harmonious. The white custom-made kitchen set has laconic forms and looks unobtrusive against the walls.

Cube with TV Kitchen

The “cube” also includes a TV area, and opposite it there is a niche with cabinets and shelves. Inside there is a fold-out sofa, and on the left there is a work desk. The entire interior is designed in light shades, and the furniture and bright book covers play the role of accents. The amount of natural light is regulated by Roman blinds, and artificial light is regulated by ceiling lamps of different sizes.

Living Room

Stylish remodel of a one-room apartment

Another small apartment transformed thanks to the work of designer Elzbieta Chegarova. After the remodeling of the apartment, its owner acquired a spacious kitchen-living room and a combined bathroom. Because of the gas stove, it was necessary to construct a sliding partition between the rooms.

Layout

In the white and blue hallway, thick fabric was used instead of cabinet fronts. The kitchen is presented with a milky-colored set, the accent apron is laid out with patchwork tiles. Roller blinds and glass facades help not to overload the space.

The living room combines not only a place for receiving guests and watching TV, but also a bedroom with an office. The designer did not forget about the storage system, constructing a niche from two wardrobes and two wall cabinets. The apartment turned out cozy and welcoming.

Studio with a niche

Alena Gunko works as a designer, so she designed this 30-meter one-room apartment in a Khrushchev apartment herself. It wasn’t without some redevelopment: the bathroom and toilet were combined, the kitchen and living room were combined, and a partition with a built-in closet was erected between the “bedroom” and the hallway.

Layout

To fit in a refrigerator, the kitchen was enlarged at the expense of the hallway. It flows into the living room, remaining spacious, but visually separated by different floor coverings: porcelain stoneware and laminate. The recreation area is decorated with a bright sofa, which can be unfolded when needed.

Kitchen Dining Room

The niche, created specifically to put the bed, is decorated with homemade wallpaper: Alena drew them in vector and printed them out. Every spare centimeter of the apartment is thought out to the smallest detail and used as efficiently as possible, while the furnishings look light and uncluttered.

Bedroom

Conversion from a one-room apartment into a European-style two-room apartment

The project of this Khrushchev-era apartment was worked on by specialists from Buro Brainstorm, who transformed it into a modern apartment with a separate bedroom and a kitchen-living room. Area – 34 sq. m.

Layout

The main feature of the interior is a sliding partition made of frosted glass. It allowed to unite the rooms, having agreed on the redevelopment. When opened, the mobile structure hides in the wall. The kitchen-living room is decorated in light colors with the addition of light wood, and an abstract painting on the wall serves as a bright spot.

The TV on the bracket rotates in both directions. The sink is installed opposite the window, and the refrigerator is built into the set. The bedroom has not only a bed with bedside tables, but also a spacious wardrobe with a depth of 90 cm. The former one-room apartment looks noble and is suitable for a young family.

Small apartment for rent

This remodel of a 1-room Khrushchevka with two windows allowed the apartment to be transformed into a cozy kitchen-living room and a small bedroom. In the interior of the hallway, a bench and several hooks for clothes were installed to save space. This decision is due to the purpose of the apartment – renting out, which eliminates the need to create bulky storage systems.

A fold-out sofa was placed in the living room, which provides additional sleeping space. The small bedroom, approximately 9 square meters, accommodated a full-size double bed, a wardrobe, and a neat chest of drawers. For convenience, the partition between the bedroom and the kitchen-living room was additionally soundproofed.

One-room apartment with a workspace

This is another well-thought-out Khrushchevka from the Brainstorm Buro studio. The renovation of the apartment with dismantling and installing new furniture took 2.5 months. In the kitchen, the designers thought of enough storage space, and placed the sink near the window. The laconic gray facades of the set emphasize the restraint of the interior.

And the rich blue sofa organically enlivens the interior of the Khrushchevka and serves as zoning between the recreation area and the kitchen. The living room turned out to be quite spacious and cozy due to thoughtful lighting and indoor plants. In addition, a full-fledged work area was placed near the window.

The bathroom was made combined and a shower cabin was placed in it. But they decided to take the washing machine out to the hallway and put it in the closet. The result is a fairly compact and uncluttered interior.

Apartment with a bedroom behind glass

The area of this Moscow apartment is 30 sq. m. After the designers of “Huge Studio” worked on the project, the one-room Khrushchevka became unrecognizable. Instead of a small separate kitchen, there is a space with a bar counter and a work area, and the bedroom is hidden behind a glass partition.

Layout

The interior is built in a minimalist style, but simple forms are balanced by rich shades and wooden textures. The parquet is original – it was restored and covered with wax. Due to the combined countertop, passing from the window sill to the bar counter, the specialists managed to increase the work space threefold.

Thanks to the transparent partitions, light penetrates into the bedroom without hindrance. To create privacy, you can draw the existing curtains. Inside the sleeping area there is a wardrobe with glass fronts and a tall mirror: thanks to these techniques, the small space seems larger.

Bedroom

Bright studio with three windows

As a result of the project by architect Maxim Tikhonov, a cramped apartment with a tiny kitchen became comfortable and spacious.

Layout

The kitchen countertop is at the same level as the window sill, has smooth facades and built-in appliances, so it looks very laconic. The refrigerator is hidden behind the partition, and the dining area is made up of an elegant table in the company of Soviet and designer chairs.

Kitchen-living room Sofa and work area

The center of the composition is an accent dark gray wall with a TV – three windows allowed us to use this technique without fear. The sofa plays the role of a sleeping place at night. To the right of it is a retro desk, and the storage system is represented by a wardrobe with white doors that merge with the walls.

Khrushchevka in the style of minimalism

This apartment has become an example of laconic design. It is hard to imagine that once upon a time there was a renovation in the 60s and old furniture was located here. Authors – Dmitry and Daria Koloskov.

Plinrovka

A rare design project in a Khrushchev-era apartment can be completed without redevelopment. In this apartment, it turned out a little differently: they just made an opening in the wall, uniting the kitchen and the room. In the living room, there is a sofa, a TV, and a work table that repeats the design of the dining room. If necessary, they can be moved.

Kitchen-living room and doorway

The finishing combines lightness and brutality: exposed concrete on the ceiling, brickwork, painted plaster and wood form a harmonious ensemble. Light furniture, as well as a niche for a wooden bed, add naturalness to the apartment, and dark parquet – nobility.

Studio with a bedroom-living room

The interior was designed by Buro Brainstorm. Here are some ideas that are ideal for a small apartment.

Layout

To make the interior seem lighter and larger, the walls are painted light gray, and white brick is chosen as relief accents. The bedroom is separated by a glass wall and curtains, so the owners can visually unite the space or, conversely, retire. The sink in the kitchen is located by the window, which helps to gain a few useful centimeters for storage.

Another technique used by the architects is lowering the window sill. This allowed us to get one more seat and make the environment more comfortable by increasing the amount of natural light.

Any, even the most compact, apartment can be turned into an attractive and comfortable space. Most one-room Khrushchev apartments need remodeling and an enlarged kitchen, but the end result is worth it.
