Bed frame

Tools and materials

You will need the following:

  • pallets (the quantity depends on their type and the size of the mattress);
  • jigsaw (regular or electric);
  • sandpaper or sanding machine;
  • fasteners: screws or self-tapping screws;
  • water-proof compound.

Pallet

Step-by-step instructions

Let’s get to work:

1. Almost all used pallets have dirty wood and uneven surfaces that can cause injuries. Sanding the top layer will reveal the wood grain and prevent wood from getting into your mattress and bedding.

This is the most important part of the job and requires patience.

Sanding Pallets

2. Cut the pallets to fit your mattress. You may need two to four pallets.

3. Connect the parts together using fasteners so that the frame does not fall apart.

4. The bed can be modified: add slats and saw off the outer corners so as not to touch them with your feet. If you have two more pallets, you can make a nice headboard out of them. And from a couple of pallets and a strong rope it is easy to construct a swing bed for outdoor recreation.
