Buddleya davidii
All varieties of buddleya are distinguished by beautiful and abundant flowering. The plant is a lush spreading bush up to 3-4 meters high (depending on the variety). Flowering lasts from June to October. Small buds of buddleya are collected in triangular or cylindrical brushes on the tops of young shoots.
The plant is considered a good honey plant, but due to the deep shape of the flower, only butterflies can pollinate them. For repeated flowering, old vines are periodically trimmed.
For small areas, it is worth choosing compact varieties of buddleia that grow no more than 1.5-2 meters.
Japanese spirea
An undemanding deciduous shrub with beautiful inflorescences. Spirea is often used to create hedges, borders and landscape groups of long flowering. Small buds of white, pinkish or purple shades are collected in lush brushes or shields on the tops of strong stems.
Spiraea grows quite chaotically, so it needs formative pruning. Adult bushes reach a height of 100 cm, for flowerbeds dwarf varieties have been bred that grow up to 50-60 cm. They can be used for ground cover plantings. Summer spireas bloom from late June to mid-August.
Luxurious clematis
Perennial decorative vines that are suitable for creating flowerbeds of continuous flowering. The length of the vines reaches 8-10 meters. The flowering period lasts from the end of May until autumn, so clematis has become a popular plant for vertical landscaping of hedges, gazebos and flower beds.
There is also a semi-shrub form up to 60 cm high. Simple and double inflorescences reach a diameter of 17-20 cm. The flower is formed from a rosette of sepals with a dense bunch of pistils and stamens. At the height of flowering, clematis looks like a floral blanket.
Fabulous wisteria
A woody climbing plant with lashes up to 17-20 meters long. In garden and landscape design, it is valued for its dense, lacy foliage and long flowering period. Numerous butterfly buds form racemose inflorescences that hang down beautifully.
The length of one inflorescence is up to 30 cm. Wisteria petals are painted in various shades of cream, lilac, purple and violet. Wisteria blooms starting from the age of 3. The liana is used to create decorative gazebos, arches and other landscape forms.
Modest heather
Ground cover herbaceous shrub with evergreen foliage. The stems reach a height of 50-100 cm. In natural conditions, it creates vast heather wastelands. The flowering period lasts from June/July to August. The upper part of the shoots is covered with numerous goblet-shaped buds of white, lilac or cherry shades.
Dry petals remain on the stems for several more weeks, continuing to decorate the area. Heather varieties differ not only in flowers and habitus, but also in the color of the leaves – they can be green, yellow, red or bronze.
Climbing (climbing) rose
A variety of roses with thin vines up to 15 meters long. On a support, the plant creates beautiful figured arches, columns and hedges. Varieties with creeping shoots are used as a ground cover crop. Roses should be planted in sunny parts of the site with good lighting. They respond well to watering and fertilizing.
The flowering period lasts from several weeks to three months. The average size of a blossoming bud is 8-10 cm. The color is varied: white, pink, cherry, blue and orange shades. New shoots grow constantly, so in a comfortable climate, roses can bloom for up to six months. They need good insulation for the winter.
Oriental hibiscus
A tree-like or herbaceous shrub that grows from 1 to 3 meters in height. It is frost-resistant and unpretentious. The plant has several hundred varieties with simple and double inflorescences of pastel and bright shades.
The bushes stand strewn with large flowers all summer, and some varieties – until October. Long stems are recommended to be trimmed to form the crown and stimulate active growth of young shoots.
Decorative honeysuckle
An evergreen liana from the Caprifolaceae family. Adult shoots reach a length of 5-6 meters. Flowering honeysuckle is suitable for growing in moderate and mild climates. Bright buds are collected in groups at the tops of young stems.
The flowering period lasts all summer. The inflorescences are delicate, openwork with two-color and contrasting petals. In place of the buds, bright small berries ripen, which look beautiful against the background of smooth green foliage.
The selection includes ornamental shrubs with a long flowering period. The selected plants are distinguished not only by beautiful buds, but also by simple growing conditions. With a small investment of time, they will turn the site into a picturesque spectacle for all summer months.
