The meaning and features of white (psychology)

White symbolizes innocence and purity. The lightest and purest shade can become a canvas in the interior, on which bright colors will be applied.

  • It is considered a classic finishing color,
  • visually increases the space,
  • combines with absolutely any shades,
  • white has a cold and warm tone.

Types of ceiling

Stretch

One of the most common finishing methods. This is explained by the ease of installation, a wide choice of colors and a pleasant aesthetic side. The canvas is fixed to a special frame, which is fixed to the wall along the entire perimeter of the room. PVC material stretches when heated, which results in a perfectly smooth surface.

See options for white stretch ceilings in the interior.

There are several types of PVC coatings: matte, glossy and satin.

  • A matte ceiling does not reflect light, the width of the canvas is larger, but it is difficult to care for.
  • Glossy material has a mirror surface and reflects objects well.
  • Satin is the golden mean between glossy and matte canvas, the surface is outwardly pleasant and silky, softly reflects light.

Another type of stretch ceiling is fabric. The design principle is the same, but there is no need for high temperatures. The elastic fabric is also fixed to a pre-prepared frame.

Painting

Painting can be done with whitewash or lime, however, the most common method – this is covering the surface with water-based paint. Today there is a wide range of such paints with various additives, for example acrylic, with silicone or mineral composition. The paint can also have a different effect after application, varnish and matte. Before you start applying, you need to prepare a flat surface.

Suspended

It is carried out according to the general principle, sheets or panels are attached to a frame fixed to the wall. Suspended structures mask unevenness, but their installation requires an indent, which makes the room lower.

  • A plasterboard structure remains the most popular way of finishing a suspended ceiling. A metal profile is attached to the wall, into which sheets of plasterboard are laid. This type hides unevenness defects well.
  • The slatted type construction, also known as PVC panels, is assembled using the mosaic principle; the material is well suited for bathrooms and balconies.
  • The cassette type consists of metal segments fixed to a frame. The grillato structure looks like a solid metal grid. The panels are also attached to the frame. This type of finishing is used quite often in office and shopping centers.

Glossy

Gloss has an undeniable advantage, it can visually increase the space. Glossy canvas will be a good solution for finishing a small room, reflecting light and objects, the room seems higher. However, a shiny surface will be inappropriate in an interior with a classic design.

Glossy ceiling

Matte

A velvety matte ceiling will be a good solution for any style and room. If a stretch ceiling is chosen as a finishing option, then the advantage will be the width of the canvas, it is larger than the glossy material. This allows you to avoid seams and get a perfectly flat surface.

What wallpaper goes with a white ceiling?

Thanks to its nature, white harmoniously coexists with absolutely any shades. An equally good idea would be to finish the wall surface with the same tone, forming a clean sheet of paper, and with contrasting saturated colors. In the latter case, the light top will not allow the room to become small and oppressive.

LED backlighting provides additional lighting, highlighting suspended tiers of the ceiling or recesses in the walls; it is also a decorative element. If the strip is sunk into one of the tiers, it creates the illusion of a ceiling hanging in the air.

Choosing a skirting board for a white ceiling

As a rule, the skirting board is selected to match the color of the ceiling or walls, so they will become a continuation of one plane and will gracefully flow into another. An interesting solution would be contrasting skirting boards that stand out from the general background, but match other items.
