Hybrid delphiniums
Of the hundreds of varieties of delphinium, only a small number can boast of huge sizes. If you want to grow a flowering candle higher than 1 meter on your plot, you should choose Dutch, New Zealand and Scottish hybrids.
Minimum height – from 100-120 cm. Delphiniums of the “Pacific” variety grow to almost 2 meters. The plant blooms twice – the first wave in June, the second – at the end of August / beginning of September. Dozens of inflorescences form a brush that occupies 1/3 of the stem.
Medicinal echinacea
A beautiful herbaceous perennial with rigid straight stems up to 150 cm high. Complex inflorescences are formed on the peduncles. The convex spherical middle consists of a large number of tiny tubular flowers of a burgundy or brownish hue.
It is surrounded by a single row of ligulate petals of white, soft crimson or reddish hue. The total width of the basket is up to 12 cm. The flowering period is from July to September.
Grows well in sunny areas.
Gorgeous Brugmansia
A shrub or tree-like plant native to the tropics. It is valued for its simple growing conditions and beautiful flowers. In open ground, Brugmansia varieties reach a height of 5-6 meters. When planted in containers, the abundant growth of green mass is reduced.
The plant blooms with large drooping bells with a rich, pleasant aroma. The length of the buds reaches 30-45 cm. Brugmansia blooms from early summer to mid-autumn. The most common varieties are those with yellow, white and pink petals.
Bright weigela
A decorative flowering shrub that looks great as a hedge and single plantings in flowerbeds. Alternatively, weigela can be grown on a standard, then instead of a bush you get a tree.
Dwarf forms of the plant are cultivated in small areas, but in the usual format, weigela reaches 1.7-2 meters and grows lushly to the sides. 2-3 times a season the bush is covered with flowers. Depending on the variety, the buds can be white, beige, pinkish, scarlet and burgundy.
Mallow or Hollyhock
A group of herbaceous plants, which includes annual, biennial and perennial varieties. It looks beautiful in single and group plantings. The plant grows weakly to the sides, all attention is drawn to the stem up to 2-2.5 meters high, abundantly covered with flowers.
Simple or double buds resemble a wide bell and bloom from mid-summer until the first frost. Several dozen inflorescences grow on one bud. They bloom gradually, so flowering lasts for weeks. Mallows planted in a row form a high flowering hedge.
Sunny Rudbeckia
Rudbeckia dissecta is an unpretentious decorative perennial with high flexible stems and lush yellow flowers. In shape, the voluminous buds are similar to dahlias. Complex flowers are collected from greenish tubular and ligulate yellow petals.
Maximum diameter – 10-12 cm. The plant blooms from mid-July until the cold weather. It grows well in the sun, lightly and completely shaded areas.
Canadian goldenrod
A lush herbaceous perennial that blooms in August/September. Goldenrod blooms with beautiful loose panicles made up of hundreds of tiny yellow flowers. The plant grows into a lush bush up to 180 cm high and up to 100 cm wide.
Goldenrod is undemanding to soil and care – it grows both in the shade of buildings and in the backyards. To avoid active self-seeding, hybrid varieties are planted.
Overseas Canna
Canna is a bright representative of the group of tall perennials. An adult plant forms a lush bush with wide leaves, which looks decorative even without flowers. Tall varieties reach 2 meters.
At the top of the peduncle, voluminous airy buds up to 15 cm in diameter bloom. The color of the petals depends on the variety: white, yellow and red. Varieties with two-color buds and a contrasting edging are popular. They bloom from July until frost. It is better to overwinter canna indoors.
Climbing kobeya
A popular liana that is grown by gardeners as an ornamental annual. Flexible stems up to 5-6 meters long need strong support. Kobeya flowers look very beautiful – a large bell with protruding curved stamens.
As the bud blooms, it changes color from light green to purple or white. Kobeya is used for landscaping garden structures and camouflaging unsightly walls and fences. Single plants can be grown in containers.
Decorative sunflowers
Flowering plants up to 2-5 meters high with beautiful textured inflorescences. In addition to the traditional yellow color, the palette includes shades of lemon, raspberry and red. Flowers can be simple or lush double. Sunflowers are suitable for hedges, zoning a site or as a tall background plant in tiered flower beds. Flowering begins from July to October.
