The design of a loft-style toilet depends on the size of the room, the intended functionality and the financial costs involved.

  • Rough textures. Loft-style bathroom decoration involves the use of brickwork, concrete, metal, and untreated wood.
  • Open utilities. There is no need to hide pipes and wires — just make them aesthetically pleasing.
  • Suitable plumbing. A cheap round toilet will ruin the style of the direction. Install either an antique model or, conversely, an ultra-modern one with straight shapes.
  • Dark color. There shouldn’t be a lot of white in a loft-style toilet design. The prevailing range is gloomy — gray, black, brown, red.
  • Little light. The lighting is intimate and dim. In a toilet separated from the bathroom, too much bright light is not needed.
  • Unique decor. Most accessories are made by hand: be it a workbench under the sink or a toilet paper holder made of pipes.

Choosing a stylish finish

The main component of a loft-style toilet is the finishing materials – they set the mood.

Walls. Classic finishing options:

  • Brickwork. Brick, preferably red and aged.
  • Concrete. Leave the bare slabs, make a decorative coating with microcement.
  • Paint. Most often, loft-style toilets are gray, but the walls are also painted black, brown, indigo, burgundy, emerald.
  • Tiles. Put a dark, single-color one or choose one with imitation concrete, brick, wood.
  • Wood. Barn boards are the best. If you don’t have any, attach clapboard to the walls and paint it. Laminate will also work.

It is not necessary to use one option – for example, make red brick on one wall as an accent, and paint the rest in a single-color paint.

Advice! Be sure to treat porous surfaces with an anti-mold and anti-fungal impregnation.

Floor. The standard covering for an apartment or house is tiles. Follow the rule of proportionality: the smaller the area of the loft-style toilet, the smaller the tiles should be. Another suitable option is concrete.

Important! Keep in mind that porcelain stoneware and concrete are cold. Therefore, before laying, install a heated floor system so that it is comfortable and safe to stand on the floor with bare feet.

Ceiling. In a large bathroom it can be dark, in a small one – light is better. The same rule applies to the height of the ceiling – the lower, the lighter. It doesn’t have to be white — give free rein to your imagination, decorate in blue, gray, beige, green tones.

As for the color scheme, dark shades prevail, but light and bright ones are also present. Light ones are usually used for plumbing and the ceiling. Bright ones are used for accents. A colored picture, a bright radiator, a red valve — all this will create the right atmosphere.

What plumbing and furniture should you choose?

The interior of a loft toilet cannot do without a toilet and a sink. Other details are added as needed and if there is free space.

The toilet is usually white, suspended, with a hidden drain system. Or the second option is a floor-standing one, with a suspended high cistern and a hanging cord. Black sanitary ware is acceptable, but keep in mind that stains and dirt are more visible on it.

The sink is selected to match the toilet. For a modern one – an overhead one. White glossy, concrete, stone, matte, black. For a retro style, the washbasin needs to be the same: usually it is figured, on metal legs or hangers.

Give up standard chrome-plated round faucets in favor of flat, square, colored (white, black, bright) ones. Copper and bronze look great, especially if they are supported by other elements: brackets, soap dish, toilet brush.

As for furniture, in the industrial style it is preferable to use:

  • high and low open shelves made of metal and wood;
  • shelves made of rough boards;
  • massive tables made of natural wood;
  • metal consoles;
  • tabletops made of slab and concrete.

What kind of decor can be used?

If you look at the loft-style toilets in the photo, they are not particularly decorated (as are bathrooms in other styles). Functional things act as decor:

  1. Toilet paper holder. It is made from water pipes, wood, metal profile.
  2. Towel bracket. Hang unusual hooks or a black rod.
  3. Radiator, heated towel rail. The easiest way is to install a brand new chrome one, it will also work. But good old cast iron painted in a bright color will look more atmospheric.
  4. Lamps. Lighting in industrial style plays an important role. Edison bulbs, metal pendants and sconces, various unusual lamps will make the loft style more expressive.

Additional small accessories:

  • Mirror. Usually round in an iron frame, reminiscent of a porthole. Or hanging on a leather strap over the sink.
  • Pictures. The toilet room may not seem like the most suitable place for art, but framed or unframed posters can liven up the interior. Choose images of nature, animals, or abstract art.
  • Decorations. Want to add even more coziness? Place candles in iron candlesticks, plants in aged flowerpots, and lamp clocks on the shelves.
