Cloche

The bell-shaped glass lid is borrowed from classic French table setting. Initially, it was used to cover hot dishes so that they did not cool down and did not lose their aroma, or vases with cakes. Today, cloche is used more widely – for any decorative compositions, including florariums.

The base for the glass dome is usually a wide flat plate or fruit bowl on a high figured leg. I suggest choosing the second option.

Instead of a leg, you can use a ceramic candlestick from the Fix Price store, attaching a dish of a suitable size and shade on top, and replace the dome with a deep salad bowl. We will decorate the cloche with a small figurine – for example, a spring-like festive bird made of dolomite, which will also play the role of a handle.

We first process all the elements of our product at the joints with sandpaper and degrease them with alcohol, white spirit or acetone.

The glue should be transparent, since we are working with glass and traces will be visible on the back of the cap. Epoxy or liquid nails POINT 96 will do.

A bag instead of a flowerpot

Individuality and environmental friendliness are the two main trends in modern design. They are most clearly reflected in the Scandinavian style interior, for which a flowerpot made from a canvas bag is ideal. It seems that it is impossible to imagine a simpler solution – buy a burlap shopper from Fix Price and put a flower pot of a suitable size in it. Such a composition looks picturesque and will easily become the main accent of the interior.

The advantage of a shopper bag is the water-repellent inner layer, which is important when it comes to living plants. The dimensions of the improvised “flowerpot” allow you to easily place a five-liter flower pot in it. A canvas bag is a worthy alternative to the fashionable today baskets made of seaweed, which are used for the same purpose, but cost several times more.

It is advisable to choose large, textured plants with a lush crown for a textile flowerpot. Suitable:

  • monstera;
  • ficus benjamina;
  • howea;
  • philodendron;
  • schefflera;
  • spathiphyllum Sensation.

You can also put a tall vase with cut flowers in the bag or make a composition of dried flowers.

Mirror frame made of clothespins

The Art Deco style, which returned to our homes several years ago, brought with it several iconic pieces of furniture. These are a velvet sofa in the shade of a precious stone, sculptural lamps and a sun mirror. They were able to successfully fit into other modern styles: hygge, boho and loft.

The sun mirror has become especially popular – it is loved for its unusual appearance and ability to bring a touch of luxury to the interior. Moreover, it does not matter what the beams around the frame are made of: noble bronze or ordinary clothespins, as in the example below.

  1. For a fashionable alteration, we will need a table mirror from Fix Price, only without a factory frame. We will also use wooden clothespins, or rather their halves without a connecting spring.
  2. Glue a larger diameter circle of thick corrugated cardboard to the back of the mirror.
  3. And lay out the halves of the clothespins on it, placing them in one direction.

The Art Deco frame is ready. You can leave it in its natural form – the wood looks beautiful and noble or cover it with metallic gold paint.

Botanical style decor

A herbarium in glass is an alternative to paintings or posters. It is easy to make with your own hands, even without artistic skills. First, you need to collect spectacular garden and meadow plants, and then dry them under a press or with an iron.

For a botanical picture, you will need two identical photo frames – disassemble one of them and take out the glass. We lay out our plants on it, choosing a composition that is harmonious in texture and color. We cover the finished picture with a second one – a whole photo frame (without cardboard) and fix both glasses with clamps.

Candlestick from a child’s toy

A collectible llama figurine from the Fix Price children’s series can easily be remade into a retro candlestick. Any other animals with a clear, expressive silhouette will do. To get away from the image of a child’s toy, we will decorate the llama with an oriental blanket. We cut it out of foamiran and glue openwork braid with pom-poms along the edge. You can also use other decor, adding elegant details to a simple figurine.

In this case, a glass bowl serves as a candlestick. We glue it to the animal’s back, cutting a hole in the blanket for this. We prime the figurine with acrylic varnish or PVA, paying special attention to the foamiran and braid – they need to be soaked to a hard state. Finally, we cover the llama with silver or bronze spray paint and patinated it to give it an aged look.

It is important to apply the patina in a thin layer and only in accent areas, otherwise the metal will fade and become matte.

Bamboo lanterns

Bamboo skewers are suitable for Chinese-style lamps. We construct a semblance of a birdcage, fastening the vertical rods with wire rims. We wrap the metal, which violates the style, with decorative raffia rope. We glue or tie the joints to strengthen our structure.

If desired, the bamboo skewers can be carefully bent – the lantern will acquire a rounded shape. We make the base and top of the lamp from cardboard. We insert a glass jar inside to light a candle without fear. We decorate the lantern with any decorative elements in eco-style. It will last longer if it is covered with several layers of wood varnish.

Photo frame-key holder

The following alteration will appeal to connoisseurs of Provence. This is the style of the photo frame from the new winter collection Fix Price. It will serve as a good basis for a key holder. But first, let’s remake the boring frame into a romantic French balcony. To do this, remove the glass and cut out the window frame from the cardboard backing.

Assemble the frame again. Attach hooks for keys at the bottom on both sides. Make the balcony railing from a metal mesh to protect car radiators, and the semicircular floor from cardboard. To complete the look, add floral decor to the composition.

Use glue, toothpaste, and medicine tube caps for flowerpots and wall planters, and take the “greenery” from plastic or textile bouquets. On the back of the window you can attach a miniature LED garland so that the light in our “house” is always on.
