Panel

To make a wall art installation, in addition to broken dishes, you will need assembly glue or “liquid nails”, tile grout in a contrasting shade and a base on which you will attach the mosaic, ideally plywood or wood.

First, the prepared fragments are simply laid out on a backing to select a pattern. When the composition is composed, it is fixed with glue, after drying the gaps are filled with grout and the excess is removed with a damp cloth.

Frame

Photo frames, picture baguettes and mirror frames are decorated in the same way. It is unlikely that you will have the required amount of raw materials of the required size at your disposal. Then you will have to sacrifice a few more items, putting them in a canvas bag or wrapping them in a large towel and carefully breaking them with a hammer so as not to hurt yourself and not to litter the work area.

The result will be more interesting if you add beautiful shards of glass or tiles to the broken dishes. To obtain fragments of the correct shape, you will need a hacksaw and a tile cutter.

Clock

Wall clocks made of old cups, saucers and bowls look harmonious in the kitchen interior and at the same time perform a useful function – almost every housewife has a habit of monitoring the cooking time. Such decorations fit perfectly into rustic styles: country, Provence.

A clock made from broken dishes can be purely decorative, but it is also easy to decorate a working product by disassembling its case and replacing the dial.

Flowerpot

To cover the streamlined surface of a small flowerpot with porcelain mosaic, you will need very small fragments. Pliers and tweezers will help you get them, and you can fix them not only with liquid nails, but also with cement mortar, clay or plaster, depending on what will go best with the selected container.

It is not necessary to use broken dishes – create a charming living composition in a whole mug.

Vase

Decorating a floor or table vase with mosaics can be more difficult than decorating a flowerpot. It depends on the size and configuration. Small ornate items will require enviable accuracy and perseverance. Here, too, you can’t do without tweezers and nippers.

In addition to broken dishes, you can use fragments of figurines – this will allow you to get the most complex and original art object.

Tabletop

With bright shards glass, ceramic tiles or old plates can easily be used to decorate the surface of a coffee table, the seat of a stool or a bar chair. But you will need a lot of raw materials, so new “victims” cannot be avoided. In this sense, tiles are preferable – you can use the leftovers after the renovation to good use.

If you have black and white material, lay out a chessboard on the countertop to combine beauty with intellectual leisure.

Kitchen apron

This is a large-scale work that will certainly make you proud of your interior and craftsmanship. A randomly composed mosaic of small shards of crockery is the easiest project to implement. If you want something more complex, try including whole saucers or halves of cups in the design.

The “pockets” formed by cups, mugs and vases are convenient for storing kitchen utensils and cutlery.

Wall holder

Porcelain lids with chipped edges should not be used for their intended purpose; it is better to attach them to the wall or cutting board to use them as a holder, organizer or towel hanger.

The next time you accidentally drop and break a dish, don’t rush to get upset, hastily sweep up the shards and throw them in the trash. This unfortunate incident can become a source of inspiration.
