Ways to use an unnecessary hose in your garden.

Harvesting basket

Containers of various sizes are in constant demand in the garden – during harvesting, weeding and for storing small items. Therefore, a practical gardener will definitely find a basket made from a hose useful.

Even a beginner can make it:

1. bend the end of the hose, turning it 180°;
2. then wind the hose in a circle and secure each turn with three or four plastic clamps – this will be the bottom of the basket;
3. the walls are made in the same way, only now all the turns will be the same size and will be located one above the other;
4. for the handle, fold a long piece of hose in half and attach it to the basket with clamps;
5. at the end of the work, cut off the protruding tails from the clamps.

Flowerpot or flowerbed

Spring is sometimes late. The frosts have gone, but the soil is still cold and summer residents are waiting for the earth to be warm enough to plant.

There is a proven method – to raise the bed above ground level. Usually such a bed is formed from boards, but you can also use a hose – wind it into identical rings to the desired height and fix it with clamps. The soil in the flowerbed will warm up in one sunny day, and to prevent it from drying out, you can mulch it.

An exotic plant for the garden

It is unlikely that anyone grows cacti in the garden – they will not survive the frosty Russian winters. But if you make a cactus out of a hose, frost won’t bother it, and it will look almost like a real one – at least from afar.

A cactus is essentially an inverted basket, only the transition between the walls is not so sharp. You don’t need to cut the clamps – these are the needles of your cactus. The product can be decorated with flowers – from water taps or plastic bottles.

Garden figurine

If you insert a stiff wire into the hose, you can make a snake or a spider. Such a beautiful and original figurine will definitely impress your guests and will serve as a decoration for your dacha for many years.

Door mat

You can make a mat in front of the front door or a large carpet for the veranda from a hose. It is created from rows of hose laid tightly next to each other. This rug is easy to clean and dries quickly.

There are three manufacturing options:

• fix the coils with clamps, like in a basket;
• glue the folded hose to the base – thick fabric or plywood;
• glue the coils together with a glue gun.

Fence or curb

In the old days, wattle fences were common in villages – fences woven from vines. You can make the same thing from a hose, only brighter and more durable. Choose the height to your taste – from a low border to a full-fledged fence.

Wall decoration

Composition of huge flowers and patterns will decorate a plain wall of a garden house. And if you have a dirt-protecting mat, you can use it as a basis for an original flower panel.

Garden furniture

In skilled hands, a hose can be replaced by artificial rattan – you will have a designer furniture set. Furniture made from a garden hose is not afraid of rain or sun, which is very convenient for a summer house.

Support for trees

Young trees need reliable fixation after transplantation – until their root system develops enough to give them support. If fixed with a rope, it can squeeze the trunk and damage the bark. When you put a hose under the rope, this problem disappears.

Comfortable handle

When you carry a full metal bucket, the thin handle cuts into your palms. If you put a piece of hose on it, it will be much more comfortable to carry.

You can use the same piece of hose to cover the metal chain on the swing. Small children often get their fingers caught in the chain links, which is painful to say the least.

Protection from scratches

It is better to hide the cutting edge of some tools – they will not damage the items stored nearby. It will also be safe to take them out of the shed by touch. A piece of hose cut lengthwise will do the job perfectly.

If you have a narrow garage, you need to open the door of the car parked in it carefully so as not to scratch it on the wall. If you attach a piece of hose to the wall, you can feel more free – its soft surface will protect the door from scratches.

Hose Fastener

You can get a convenient fastener for a garden tool using a piece of hose screwed to the wall. And the hose cut lengthwise will help to fix the polyethylene on the arches of the greenhouse.

Watering plants

The old hose can continue to be used for watering. For example, pierce many small holes in it and lay them along the bed – you will get a simple but reliable type of drip irrigation. And through a piece of hose placed in a flower pot, you can water the capricious plant at the root.

As you can see, if you use a little imagination, a broken hose can still bring you a lot of benefit in the most unexpected corners of the garden.
