Design Features

A bedroom in warm colors is the apotheosis of home comfort. But to avoid it being oversaturated, you should know the features of using a warm color scheme.

  1. Light neutral shades are chosen as a base: white (pearl, ivory), beige (cream, almond), pink (powdery, cream, peach), yellow (champagne, vanilla).
  2. Dark warm shades (chestnut, mahogany, chocolate, coffee) are used as the main ones in large bedrooms (from 18 sq.m.), or left for furniture.
  3. Bright warm tones (red, orange, yellow) are suitable for decorating decorative elements.

Another nuance – the bedroom should not be too warm, otherwise it will be stuffy to be in it. To do this, determine: which way do your windows face? If they are located on the east or south side and the sun is constantly present in the room, it is better to choose a cold range or at least dilute the warm palette with it.

For poorly lit northern and western bedrooms, warm shades are the best choice!

What colors are better to use?

Before developing and implementing a bedroom design in warm colors, you should understand what is meant by the word “warm”.

Color has several characteristics: hue (red, green), saturation (bright-faded), lightness (light-dark) and temperature (warm-cold). Cold colors are obtained by mixing blue with any base color. Warm colors are based on red or orange impurities.

Orange is the standard of a warm tone, it is impossible to make it cold.

Temperature depends on the shade of a particular color. For example, creamy white is more like beige and is warm. Snow white looks a little blue and is considered cold.

To decorate a bedroom in warm tones, choose:

  • white;
  • beige;
  • brown;
  • yellow;
  • orange;
  • red;
  • pink.

Important! The latter often goes cold – look for options with an admixture of orange, not blue.

For the bedroom, not only temperature is important, but also saturation. Too bright, acidic tones create visual noise, disrupt sleep, and interfere with relaxation. It is best to take a light palette as a basis, and highlight the accents with dark, muted shades.

Options:

  • Red range – ruby, wine.
  • Orange – ginger, rusty.
  • Yellow – mustard, curry.
  • Brown – cinnamon, chocolate.

Finishing options

Correctly distributing warm colors in the bedroom interior is already 50% of the success. The most questions are about the ceiling: usually it is painted in blue-white, but in a warm room such a design will look out of place.

To make the interior harmonious, it is not necessary to tint the paint in the store: buy regular water-based ceiling paint and brown color. Add literally drop by drop until you achieve the desired tone.

There are a great many ways to ennoble the walls in the bedroom, the most common are paint and wallpaper. You can paint all vertical surfaces in one tone or make the wall behind the headboard an accent wall. For example, bright orange or sunny yellow. You won’t see this expressive tone before going to bed, but in the morning you’ll be able to perk up as soon as you get out of bed.

When decorating a bedroom in country style or furnishing a private house, it is appropriate to use boards on the walls: the color and texture of natural wood are warm in themselves, so they will fit perfectly into the design project.

While wood on the walls is not always appropriate, a wooden floor is a classic that suits almost any design direction. Both natural parquet and imitation wood in the form of linoleum or laminate are used as flooring. You can lay a warm-colored pile carpet on top – pastel or bright.

The nuances of choosing furniture and decor

Wooden furniture looks best in a bedroom interior in warm colors: we have already mentioned that the pleasant texture and color of wood make the room even more cozy. But be careful not to overdo it with wood: otherwise, a modern bedroom can turn into a parody of a hunting lodge.

Dark furniture in wenge, walnut or mahogany can be used as an accent to add depth and dynamics to a light bedroom interior.

Bedrooms in a classic style will suit light furniture in the shade of vanilla or coffee with milk, preferably with gold trim. For simpler modern trends, choose white furniture: it does not attract unnecessary attention, matches any tones, and always looks appropriate.

Standard bedroom decor includes:

  • textiles (we’ll talk about them in the next section);
  • paintings and posters (choose a color scheme that matches the room’s tone);
  • lamps.

The latter can be either neutral or interesting. For example, a pair of expressive sconces above the tables will replace the need to decorate the wall above the bed. And an original table lamp in the makeup area will eliminate the need to buy decorative figurines.

Important! To emphasize the warmth of the palette even more, choose lamps with a temperature of less than 4000K.

What accents to choose?

Since there is the most textile in the bedroom, it is on it that designers recommend focusing attention. Firstly, bedspreads and curtains create coziness. Secondly, they are easy and inexpensive to change for new ones when you get tired of the color.

Start with the window frame: for those who like to sleep longer, manufacturers recommend thick, heavy blackout curtains – they do not let in sunlight.

Are you used to getting up with the first rays of the sun? Choose any other fabric and model:

  • light tulle for dark northern windows;
  • Roman or roller blinds, if there is a table on the windowsill;
  • multilayer curtains for adherents of classic decor.

Let’s move on to the bed: pillows and bedspreads look better if there are more of them than necessary – but in this case, you need to think of a place where the textiles will be put away at night. Add decorative pillows in bright, plain or painted pillowcases to the usual pillows for sleeping. Place several blankets and bedspreads so that one can be seen from under the other. It is desirable that they match the tone of the pillows.

Step three – the floor. A couple of small rugs on the sides or one large one for the whole room will not only set the mood, but also make waking up in the morning more comfortable.

What style can I use for the design?

Warm tones are used in most styles: even the cold Scandinavian style at first glance becomes cozier surrounded by warm pastels and wicker baskets.

The classic design was literally created for the “above zero” range – the main palette is beige, with elements of brown and gold.

Suddenly, the Japanese style comes to mind: traditional red textiles go well with cream walls and wooden details.

The epitome of cozy design – boho! Lots of textile decorations, macrame, woven rugs and baskets – all this is appropriate in the bedroom of both a couple and a single.

Modern design advocates for muted and bolder shades: instead of the boring beige, here there is powdery, creamy, peach, even salmon.
