Curtain
The easiest way to separate the sleeping area is with a curtain. This is not an ideal option – after all, the area of the room is significantly reduced, but the bed is definitely hidden from prying eyes.
Panels
Build a special niche for a bed from sliding partitions. During the day they slide in, and the hidden bed does not bother anyone, and at night the panels can be pulled apart, increasing the volume of the “bedroom”.
Folding sofa bed
An interesting option for furnishing a living room combined with a bedroom is to replace the bed with a sofa bed, which folds out into a full-size sleeping area. This allows you to hide the bed and at the same time have a comfortable seat in the room.
A sofa bed is easy to match to any interior, as they come in different shapes and sizes: from standard rectangular to huge round ones.
Transformation
Special transforming furniture is produced for small apartments. It allows you to use the same item in different situations.
For example, a large dining table hides a secret bed – you just need to unfold it in a special way. A small children’s couch can become a work desk. Such “transformers” save both money and space.
Podium
A hidden bed can be arranged in a podium – this is the best option in cases where the same room serves as a living room, a bedroom, an office, a nursery and even a gym.
With the help of a podium, the room can be divided into two zones, one of which can be a study, and the other – a living room. The bed built into the podium is pulled out to its “working place” at night, and its presence is impossible to detect during the day.
Wardrobe
You can arrange a hidden bed in a closet in such a way that no one will guess that this room is a bedroom at night. The simplest option is a regular wardrobe, the doors of which hide the bed.
A more complex option is a transforming bed, which in a vertical position forms a wall of the wardrobe. It is easy to raise and lower such a bed with the help of a special mechanism.
Ceiling
One of the most original ways to hide a bed in a common room is to drive it… onto the ceiling! Of course, in houses with low ceilings, such a solution would be justified only in a children’s room, because children love to hide in secluded corners, and such an “attic” will be very cozy for them.
Adults will also find it convenient if you equip the niche on the “second floor” with lighting for evening reading and an outlet for chargers.
Another “ceiling” option is a hanging bed. To lower such a hidden bed, just press the button of a special mechanism. The obvious disadvantage of ceiling structures is the impossibility of lying down and resting during the day; each time you first have to put the bed in working position.
Lounge
Arrange a lounge area in your home. To do this, build a low podium-bowl, in the recess of which you can place a mattress. The main condition is that it should not protrude above the level of the podium. This is a hidden bed, which can serve as a place to rest during the day and sleep at night.
Mattress
The simplest, but quite comfortable sleeping place is Japanese mattress, which is called “futon”. Due to the lack of space in Japanese houses, it is not customary to put large beds, sleeping places are ordinary mattresses, which are spread out in a suitable place at night, and put away in a closet during the day. Similar mattresses of any size can be bought in a store.
